Dinan Midpipe vs MPE ?
I have 2015 335i MSport. Have the stock exhaust right now and looking to get better sound out of it. What do you guys think about Dinan midpipe ? Will it drone ? How good is the sound improvement? Will it result in any error codes like downpipes ?
Or should i skip the midpipe and just get MPE instead? I was thinking to try the midpipe first as its the cheaper route but dont want to get any drone as i daily my car. |

mpe
I have mpe with catless dp and it sound pretty good. I would say its a more refined and louder version of the stock muffler. Its growls nicely on WOT and shifts and is tame and quiet on idle. Cold Start is loud but a good alarm for the neighbors. I left my resonators as I read many reviews saying that it causes alot of drone and I didnt want that on my DD. You can find MPE for around 600-700 on the forums or even on ebay from bmw dealerships. MPE would definitly be on the more tamer sound and not crazy loud, many people like Remus, AWE, Akra, dinan, borla and many others, all just comes down to what sound you are looking for.

If your just looking for sound, get the remus axle back and call it a day.
I got bored with MPE after 3-4 weeks. It's about 10-15% louder... Remus sounds excellent, amazing quality, much nicer tips, retain valve operation. i've had many combos with N55 engine and remus is my pick....

Thanks for replies. So far it looks like MPE with dp is the best option but i dont want to have warranty issues by changing the DP.
Heard good things about remus too but again it comes to warranty problems. |

changing just the muffler will not void any warranties.

If you add a downpipe, that will cause a code. To clear the code you need a flash tune or piggyback. Based on your warranty concerns, i would not get a down pipe as to clear the code, you mess with the ECU... DP will run a $400 plus install, plus the money towards a flash/piggyback that basically starts around $300 and goes up from there... If you just want sound, with a stock DP, get the Remus. You'll install the MPE and wish you had that $800 back in your pocket as we're talking very minimal sound increase.

Dinan axelback here and it's nice and deeper but it isn't super bad. Won't be turning heads but it definitely gives off a better tone and it shouldn't void warranty.

Yes I was quite underwhelmed with the MPE coming from stock muffler. I found one on kijiji for $400 CAD though so no way I was passing that up. Since then I've installed a catless DP and it's perfect for my tastes. I don't like to attract too much attention I mainly did it for the power increase.
