Sky Q Picture quality

Hi All

Had Skq Q fitted today but not overly impressed with the picture quality on SD and HD content - seems worse than the old Sky+ box!!

Anyone else think this??

No. Don't agree. Q picture quality a little better than old HD box. What TV do you have?

That's because it is. Sky Downscale SD massively and whilst HD is 720 from memory, if you want a better picture then you need to use the UHD feature.

F'kin hate Sky.

I miss Sky+

User interface was much better, and it was more reliable.

Not sure I've noticed too much difference in picture quality myself, but I suppose I've sometimes noticed that the sound and picture quality streaming through the amazon box seems better.

Multi room and being able able to pause in one room and pick up in another is about the only bits I like.

I don't use the stupid controller as it's far too sensitive - reminds me of my wife too much.

I really like my sky q set up, I have the main 2TB box with 2 mini boxes one in kitchen and one in master bedroom. I live in a town house with all boxes in the room directly above or below so have no outages.

I found the picture quality got better with my 4K tv and the box set up to 10 bit 4K. Easy to set up through the menus.

Thats incorrect. Sky HD boxes have a 1080i resolution, where as the Q boxes can run 1080p on normal HD TVs and 2160p on 4k/UHD TVs.
Although there are still SD channels all of the popular channels are in HD now. I can't think of any SD channel that doesn't have a HD equivalent.

If you hate Sky so much why do you have it?

Because the wife likes the convenience of watching Say Yes To The Dress and crap like that

It's not incorrect to state that they downscale SD and there are channels that don't have HD, especially the +1 channels when I want to catch up with Kirstie and Phil

The Q box has something like 8 tuners so why not record the programme when on the HD channel?

We pretty much record everything we want to watch and catch up when we want!

I don’t think we have ever had a clash and if we miss something we use ‘on demand’ to find it.

^This.
No reason to watch any SD content anymore unless repeats of Dad's army or something.

Sky only gives you 11HD channels unless you go for the box set option and pretty much all UK HD channels are 1080i

My sky Q picture quality is definitely better than my old sky + HD box. Have you got all the settings correct as you can choose picture quality in the menu i think.

Go to the settings menu, and check the picture quality output is set to 1080p and not 1080i or 720p. Sometimes there are on the lower settings by default out of the box

The Q box is definitely not worse than my old sky+ box.
I don't think it records anything in UHD though.

It's mainly when searching for something to watch in between programmes otherwise you're bang on.

Had Sky Q for a few months now. Must say I find it so much better than Sky HD in every aspect.

I think you know my opinion on SKY Q. So poor it's had me cancel SKY completely. Terribly rushed product.
