FYI on dinan springs on xi and initial take
I found this shocking and maybe it's been shared previously but it's worth noting again. On 435xi the dinan drop is interesting. The front went from 27.5 inches to 27 or maybe a 1/16th of an inch lower. On the rear it went from 27 5/8 to 26 or 26 1/4.
Huge drop in the rear. Not so much in the front. Truth be told the rear looks perfect. No ghetto look at all. The front still looks too high. I am not gonna switch it out but it is what it is. As far as ride quality or improvement. I really don't notice anything. However i haven't driven it hard yet as it's been raining. It might be slightly firmer. But man it's ever so slight. I thought the suspension quality in stock form was pretty darn perfect between comfort and sport. So this very little firming up is actually fine to me. Anyways. Net net. Happy with the ride quality. The stance has a backward rake. Ehh. Not really my thing. Sorta reminds me of a mustang now. Last edited by matty088; 02-11-2018 at 01:52 PM.. |

It's very difficult to control suspension height with springs only. That's why coilovers are preferred if much more precise suspension height setting plus adjustable dampen / rebound behavior are needed.

Shouldn't be a surprise - iX factory stance has front higher than rear (at least on both of the AWD I've owned)
Dinan reports 3/4" drop front/1" drop rear = same front high stance as OEM, just lower all around Quote:

I did a drop on a 435i not xi and the drop looks pretty even, but I've seen others in the forum have the same problem as yours with the "xi" (xDrive) having a reverse rake look due to the way the front suspension is designed.

Surprised you didn't notice any improvement to ride quality. I immediately noticed the reduction in body roll on turns. But like others have said, you should consider replacing the dampers or if you have EDC, get shockware as the stock ones is bouncy

I am in ffld county. Springs can be done in your garage with a diy. Trust me. You want to do this yourself. No one is gonna take the time to torque everything to spec. They are gonna hit it with an impact. Ugh.

FWIW I also had the Dinan springs and bump stops on my f32 435 xdrive. Was not satisfied with the stance or ride and went with KW V1's.
I don't track the car but wanted the front to be lower then the rear which I was able to accomplish. The stance is perfect and the ride quality is second to none. Please excuse the iPhone pics. |

Unfortunately, some shops do cut corners and use impact wrenches instead of properly tightening all bolts to proper torque specifications. Interview the shop owner. Reputable shops will be happy to answer all questions.

I did it myself but the problem I ran across was no one had accurate torque specs online. Different post had different torque specs and some stated that I needed to replace one of the bolts altogether.
