Whey Didn't You Buy An E Series?
SO...
Was wondering why you guys decided to buy F cars rather than E cars. Why did you go with the N55 over N54? What was your main reason for wanting the F series over the E series? Let's say a 335is vs what you have. I'm interested in hearing the different reasons. |

I bought an F because they stopped making the E. My next will be a G because by then they'll have stopped making the F.

I wasn't a fan of the E styling and features so I bought an F30. (plus the E is old news and outdated) This is actually my favorite car to date but the M235 would've been a bit more fun to me. This is a nice combo
I went with a 4 banger for the first time ever and haven't regretted my decision for one second! |

Was looking for a daily driver for wife, F30 335 had lighter steering (i.e. easier to turn wheel in parking log) and softer suspension and nice cabin with more modern tech
F30 is really great as a commuter car, in my opinion We had a 6MT E90 328 sport package for every years, and that was not as popular with the MRS because of how harsh the suspension was and the cabin was bare bones |

I was looking for CPO, luxury, comfort, and fuel economy while still fun to drive. The 14 F30 diesel filled every box, and I could get it in all wheel drive for year round commuting as well.
Really just a matter of what was available, low mileage, and met my needs all at once. |

I personally liked the F series styling more. From exterior perspective, I liked the backend of the F more than the E. The interior styling is a significant upgrade as well (imo).
Since I was getting an Auto, the ZF8 gearbox was also super appealing to me compared to the ZF6. |

In actually went from an F to an E
I did not like the steering on my F30 328 so i went back to an E92 335 N54 That being said, maintenance on that car is a nightmare. I wish i had stayed with my 328

I liked my 335is but time moves on & bought the 435 MPPK/MPE. More refined & was time for a change.
Also was no longer using the 335is as my track, Auto-X & drag car as the COBRA had replaced it.

I really didn't go for anything specific except that I went to a dealership with a certain budget and said: "I have a preference for BMW but I don't know what brand nor what model I should take.". The only thing I knew was that it had to be automatic. I tried a X6, E60, F1x, E9x and F3x. Found the Exx too "old fashioned" and the F1x too big. Preferred the F30 3-series and asked for the price for a new 328i GT. While waiting for a price a used 335i came up with way more options (like all) for about 20% less than the new 328i GT so I bought the used F30 335i.
So my choice was more a less by coincidence.

I lease and new cars always make for better lease deals, since the F is the current model thats what I go with. Also, since the F is the current model it has the latest technology and features and makes the E look a bit drab and dated so just wouldn't be a fan of it personally.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I find that F series coupe looks substantially better than the E series coupe .
Also, in my experience, 90% of douche-bag BMW drivers that make the rest of us look bad are zooming by in a black or dark blue E series 328xi. Definitely do not want to be part of that crowd :P |

I almost got a 335is instead of my car. Still love the 335is.
I test drove that and a few other cars, but once I test drove my car something clicked and I knew it was the right car for me. With the 704 suspension and 6MT it felt as sporty as the 335is. And since it's a 2014 it has the EWG and newer iDrive system. A lot of people bag on the N55 for lack of top end pull but the EWG version at least has plenty. For the next car I'll probably give the M240i a good look, as well as the Golf R and anything from Porsche. |
