Tires for my F30 -- some reasonable everyday options?

Hi all,

I have a 2014 335i MSport. I don't track or do anything special with it aside from crushing it from time to time when my daughter's not with me

I need a new set of rear tires (nail in left rear, both nearly bald).
(I've had this car for less than 3 months)

The tires on the car currently are Potenza S001
Front: 225/45R18
Rear: 255/40R18

Wheels:
BMW LA wheel M Star Spoke 400

Question
What are a reasonable set of tires for my purposes? I live in Atlanta, most of my driving is in congested traffic and I do not track or necessarily need the fanciest performance tires. I'll replace all 4 if I can get a good deal, but may just do the rears for now unless someone convinces me otherwise.
Edit: Ride comfort is more important to me than marginal performance that I won't feel on beat up suburb roads

Hankook Ventus V12s are pretty inexpensive and a decent tire. I like the Continental DWs as well.

MPSS should be on clearance because the new one was just released. Should be a good bet otherwise Conti DW is good too.

I ditched my runflats and went with these.

Like you, I don't track my car and I was tired of the poor wear of the extreme summer performance tires. These BF Goodrich g-Force are really nice. I have 12k miles on them now and significant sign of wear. They ride so much better than run flats.

I tried them because the Tirerack consumer reviews and the track tests positive, the price was right, and they have a very high wear rating. I'd buy them again in a heartbeat.

Good luck!

Those are good, or for ~$100 each you could try these Sumitomo ultra high performance all season, with an even longer treadwear rating -

HTR A/S P02 (W-SPEED RATED)
Ultra High Performance All-Season
Size: 225/45R18
Size: 255/40R18
Sidewall Style: Blackwall
UTQG: 500 A A

If you want run flats you're spending more cash, like $150+, and your choices are mostly quickly wearing summer tires or rather lame grand touring all seasons. Not a lot of high performance all season run flats to choose from.

Did you mean they show no significant signs of wear? I've been thinking about ditching my runflats and going to the Michelin's but these do seem like they stack up well and would be a good option to move to. I also have the base 17's so anything that would help me save some cash for some bigger rims is very welcomed

Thanks for catching that. Yes, I did mean no significant sign of wear.

These are great tires for their purpose and the fact that they are affordable is an added bonus.

Good luck!

I had these on my last car, and they were great daily tires. But not the stickiest when you wanted to do stop light pulls lol

is a 2011 manufacture date too old for MPSS?
tirerack is clearing these out with a huge discount (like half price) through mail-in rebate

so tempted to buy a set

^ I saw that too last night. If I needed rears I'd buy 2, but I don't and don't want them on the shelf since they are already 5+ years old. I'd say buy them if you need tires currently. Didn't see fronts on sale last night.

I just bought some track wheels
A square setup 18x8.5
So I could possibly go with 4 255's

Thanks.
