Thoughts on used 2013 335i xdrive?

Hello -

I came across a car that appears to be a decent deal in Chicago being offered by Luxury Auto Xchange. Please let me know what you think, the carfax is clean but I know that not all things get reported. I tried to look on KBB to see suggest price, but they did not have any 335's, only 328's for the 2013 model. In Denver they are going for asking around $50-$52k but I like the Esotril blue.

I am not in Chicago so I would have to do a fly in to check it out.

MSRP: $60,700
Invoice: 56,315

*According to BMWConfig.com*

Residual % for 15,000 miles/36 months (45,000 miles total) = 59%

Depreciation = 1 - 59% = 41%

3,200 miles / 45,000 miles = 7.11%

*According to current BMW lease rates, used to estimate depreciated value of vehicle*

7.11% * 41% = 2.915%

Depreciation % for this vehicle = 1 - 2.915% = 97.085%

Ideal purchase price = Invoice + $500 = $56,815

$56,815 * 97.085% =

Fair selling price = $55,158

I'd say you're getting a very good deal already ...

Even if you want to double the depreciation estimate, you still arrive at $53,503.

If anything I'd be skeptical as to why the price is $12,000 below MSPR considering it has nearly no miles and isn't even a year old ... The dealer is assuming the vehicle has depreciated about 15.8% which is way too much for a new BMW like that

That is what I'm concerned with. I've read some reviews about this dealer that they do do BMW buy backs and such but disclose it if that's the case. Looking at the CarFax, nothing points to that. Being that I'm not in the area, it makes it tougher.

Also since you're buying out of state, your lemon law rights are screwy and may not translate well.

Can you confirm the VIN with BMW to see if the factory warranty is still properly instated? At least that way you can ensure you are covered for the next few years.
