Brisbane storms
How'd everyone in Brisbane fare? The 3er was in the office carpark in the CBD at the time the storm hit, but unfortunately the wife's X1 was on the street in the Valley and got pelted . It's not going to buff out but at least no windows or light coverings were smashed like some I saw.
Going to see if a PDR business can do the work to suck the dents out rather than claim on insurance. Will have to see what the quote comes to. I used Un Dint It once I'll have to get back in touch and see if they can do the work. |

pretty lucky on my side too - was home at the time. Looking at the videos + photos - looks like the north side got hit real bad.
I remember chatting to a PDR tech a few years back - apparently events like this clogs the PDR/repair guys for about 12-18 months! |

i was super lucky!
I picked up my car on Thursday morning and went to work. Boss comes out to look at my car and told me to go home and show my wife the new wheels (we had never seen a F31 in real life before). So I was lucky to have my car in the garage during the storm!!! imagine if my 1/2 day old car got dinged! Hope everyone escaped unscathed. |

My car took a thrashing from the hail in St Lucia. Going to have my assessment done by insurance company this afternoon. My car didn't stand a chance over here! I find new dents every time I look at it - sides, roof, bonnet...everywhere. Nothing else damaged though, wish I could say that about the house!

So damn lucky that the wife finished up late that day, normally at the time the storm came.. I'd be stuck in traffic on Coro Dr. Luckily this time car was safely parked undercover at work.
Watch the storm thrash through milton from work.. was very glad to not be caught in it. A lot of cars here with dents on almost every panel and smashed windscreens.... How much is it to get those dents repaired ? |

On my last car, i had a 8 or so minor dings (soft japanese car) and it was about $400 or so to repair. It was repaired with a combination of removing the trim and pushing from underneath and the suction method. Repairs were all undetectable. |

All clear. Was nicely tucked away in my work underground carpark...just as well as I was watching tennis ball size hail hitting the windows of my office on the fifth floor.

I knew it was going to be bad when I could follow the hail stone from the 20th floor to the ground without losing sight of it...
I got to take a look a the X1 in full sun over the weekend. I think one panel might be undamaged |

It's not that the BMW body shops around town aren't good, I just want to know if it's going to be repaired or written off. |

So wife took the car to assessment center today and was quoted for hail repair. I saw the business card for the "assessor" and it turns out their just a hail damage repair specialist.
Not saying that they aren't good at PDR, but I'm going to have to call the insurer to check the quote because I'm guessing he didn't quote for the damaged windscreen and window seals. Also, I'm going to make sure I get choice of repairer and send it to BMW. |

So the final verdict is two new panels due to cracks in the paint (bonnet and roof) along with the replacement seals.
Damage bill is twice that of the first "opinion" sought and the repairs far more comprehensive. This is why I pay for a good insurance policy with proper choice of repairer! |

good luck fellow Brisvegas driver.
It took me 9 months to fix my top facing panels on my old Accord Euro when the big bad hailstorm hit Melbourne in 2009, my car was only 5 months old and had to fix it. Live with my volcano panels with matching Volcano grey colour for the entire period. Feels like i have pimples every day on my face and couldn't fix it...

Hi sig.
When I took my car in the first time with Allianz accessor. They said it's too much hassle and ask me to go to BMW bodyshop. Now I have to go back to BMW bodyshop with Allianz accessor on the 2nd/feb. To make a final decision.. |
