Poor Excuse for BMWusa.com website

I've been so fed up with the BMW configurator on their website, it's embarrassing to them . I even tried safari, IE, firefox, and chrome.

I know many of you are experiencing problems

How can we get this rectified?

"Build Your Own" should be named "Kill Yourself Now"

Their site doesn't even work correctly on mobile browsers.

Configuration is completely useless.

Any links to their site get redirected to their mobile homepage, and not the link you were trying to get too.

BMW should be embarrassed.

I see so many car makes that have a horrible configuration website. The other day I was trying to configure a Hyundai and they still use Flash... That thing died years ago and I don't even have it anymore. It's only ever used for ads anymore... And Hyundai.

Agreed. The auto manufacturers in general need to hire better people.

BMWs mobile site is a horrible excuse for a Build Your Own, meanwhile the desktop site, while Teutonic and rather boring in design, works extremely well (though it lacks the appealing animations in the European one)

It works fine when it loads content correctly and in a timely manner.

That's why I prefer the American BYO compared to the European one (which is more laggy on older devices)

Zero problems here...Chrome is my browser of choice and I've not encountered any problems. Maybe those having problems have slow systems or less-than-optimal internet service. I suspect BMW's website, like many others, was primarily designed to be used on a laptop or other conventional computer, not a smartphone.

The configurator works fine for me. I just built a 5 series in 2 minutes. Yes the photos are a tiny bit slow loading, but its not horrible.

I'm using a Acer laptop with i5 and Firefox as a browser. My internet connection is 40 Mbps as just tested on Ookla.

Most of my issues with the site are cookie-related; choose a particular option once, and it'll be "stuck" in your configuration for months, until you clear your cookies.

If you think that's bad, the VW website didn't even have a configurator for like a year. If you wanted to know what color combinations were available, you had to go to Edmunds or another 3rd party site. VW's grand plan was that you'd go to your local dealer to learn about the products, but that backfired since most VW dealers are staffed by morons that know nothing about the cars.

Ive noticed in recent days the configurator for the most part doesnt work. period. In fact it still doesnt work. They rely heavily on cookies which is just retarded in this day.

Works fine for me. I actually prefer the USA configurator over the euro ones which have 10x the number of screens for the same number of options and packages.

I'm talking yesterday and last week it has sucked, always been good, especially before they changed up the site

no shit!

I was just playing with building an F80. You select an option and lose three others. I'm a UI Engineer in real life, I'd be embarrassed to check this code in, let alone it would NEVER pass QA testing.

Wow you guys are right, I had never had an issue before. In fact, I was just using it couple weeks ago without any problem.

I just tried to configure a few builds, but everything is wacky. Something is wrong and I am sure people are fixing it and maybe someone is losing their job in the process. My CA is also having issue within BMW's system to order my car in correct configuration. So, it's just a matter of time for BMW's IT to sort it out.

it doesn't work for me - when I add one option, it removes or replaces another. And I'm not just talking about the "!" options.
