What is the LEATHERETTE steering wheel made of?

OK so my car is optioned with "leatherette".

But I wanted to know if this applies to the steering wheel also, or if the steering wheel is made of leather?

Reason I'm asking is because I want to clean it but don't want to use the wrong product.

According to the official BMW ordering guide the steering wheels are all leather, and don't change based on if you optioned the leather or leatherette interior.
