BMW Live Issues

Hello all,

Im having issues connecting to BMW Live through my iPhone 4 3G Connection. I get the following error:

"Current mobile communication network is not supported by BMW Live"

I'm on the Vodafone UK Network which I believe BMW use for their BMW Assist sims. I've also tried my wifes iPhone 4s on the O2 UK Network and still get the same problem.

Any ideas as my local dealer appears clueless...

I have seen some UK 5 Series owners have problems in certain areas with Assist and live traffic due to cell coverage problems.

Seems in some areas different networks share the same towers and if teh tower belongs to a non-BMW friendly network the system does not work.

Have you tried this feature in a different area, say at work or at the dealer instead of at home ?

I thought BMW Live is network independant & all it depends on is ur fone's BT connection (provided it has a data plan).

***update*** I took a drive up to London today and still no joy. BMW have logged it as a fault and are coming back to me soon.

Angry Bought it but not everything works

The news feed and weather work.... but I cannot get the other google stuff. My frustration is that nowhere do they specify the full requirements on what is needed for it to work as shown on the link

http://www.bmw.com/com/en/insights/t.../bmw_live.html

which without the other things it basically is useless

I have an iPhone 4S with giffgaff (which is part of O2 UK and uses their network) and all the Live services work fine for me, so you should definitely get a connection via your wife's phone.

When you've paired your phone, do you get the network details at the top right of the iDrive screen? Perhaps your local dealer might have an F30 demonstrator you could try your two phones with? Might be worth double-checking your network settings (on the iPhone that's Settings - General - Network - Cellular Data Network), but that's a longshot. Good luck, let us know what the dealer finds.

Was there a resolution to this? I'm getting the same "Current mobile communication network is not supported by BMW Live" message with mine (GiffGaff/O2)

That's the message I get if Data Transfer is not enabled. Make sure box is checked in settings.

Thanks for the reply - I checked and data transfer is enabled. Looks like a trip to the dealer is in order...
