Installation Cost for Coilover or Springs.

Hi, Guys.
I would like to know if you guys can help me find a reputable installer in Arizona.
I asked around for dealers and reputable shops in Phoenix, the lowest quote I got for $840 for installation alone
Thanks in advance.

It's not a complicated DIY

You can rent a spring compressor for $45 at local autozone.

Save yourself the $800

I wish there was a DIY guide that came with pictures and details such as:

Every single tool you need.
Torque spec for bolts.
(etc.)

Note: It just occurred to me there's a sticky thread about the torque values for the F32. I'll take a look at that.

I had my BC Racing Coilovers installed by VividRacing in Gilbert. Real nice and knowledgeable bunch of guys. They specialize in after-market mods and do everything from Volkswagons to Veyrons. They specialize in the higher end exotics. I think the guy who knows the most about BMW is Derek. He did my install. I think it was $400 for the install. Plus you'll meet Emily

Yeah, at least in SoCal around $400 is about right for coil overs.

Wow, that is crazy low. The price I got from dealer is 8.5hrs x $155 per hour. So they are definitely not touch my car.

Sweet, that place is just couple miles away from me. I will give them a call.
How do you like your BC coilovers? I am decided between the BC and the KW. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
The BC height seems to be adjustable, which is really nice and I can tune it for myself and when my wife is driving. She wanted a bouncy Lexus but of course I said no .
Some communities have crazy big speed bumps, did you have any issues with them lowered? Thanks a lot man.

To get a general idea, there are several youtube videos for the coilover install on the E90/E92. It took about several hours and several people. Definitely set aside an entire weekend to do it according to those guys. It doesn't look really difficult but definitely not for the total novice, I have replaced brake pads on my E46, replace the coolant tank in E46, but haven't worked on suspensions at all and not feeling up to the task.

Love 'em The only thing i don't like is what's needed to adjust the rears. Adjusting the fronts are a snap, but adjusting the rears requires that you set the pre-load again, and depending on how you do it, you may need two floor jacks (2nd jack is to take pressure off the spring so that you can loosen it to adjust ride height). The adjustable dampers are great although i wish they were accessible directly through the trunk. I don't know much about the kW's other than they are a lot more $$$ (almost double). The BC's were right around $1k. But i also heard that adjusting the rear ride height on the kW's are a little easier (almost as easy as the fronts), but i don't know that from first hand experience.

I'm lowered to the point where the top of the tires are slightly tucked. I don't have problems with most speed bumps, but i usually need to go real slow to get over them without scraping. The roads in Chandler have recently been redone so all good there. My biggest challenge is driveways that have abrupt dips. I usually need to hit them at an angle without scraping. Other than that, the low-life is pretty sweet

Good deal. I think I am leaning towards these because of it is much more budget friendly. the KW looks sweet but nobody sees them anyways.
What kind of suspension did you have before?
Coming from a E92 coupe to the F30 make me wonder what BMW is doing nowadays with their handling.

+2 for BC Racing coils!

I can't mention installation cost as I do my own work.

I just had the stock (m-perf?) F30 suspension before. I knew i was going to lower with coilovers, so i didn't have them for long before they were replaced. Good luck with the coilover install. I'm sure you're going to love 'em

Btw.. if you're ever up for hitting the Pavillions in Scottsdale, hit me up. I've never been, but wanted to check it out at least once. Its on Saturday afternoons (late). All the Beemers are in one section.

Man, why is SoCal so cheap for these type of work. I called around several shops that are specialized in BMWs, the cheapest was $840 like I mentioned with Alignment included. The stealership wanted around $1200.

I'm sure you can find a local motorsports shop that won't charge as much. Maybe Arizona is a lot diff but I'm sure you can find one

Yeah, I am still looking for someone to install it. Called couple more shops, the quote is around $500 but that is without the alignment even.
Must be the SoCal modify scene is much bigger than that of Arizona.
