help with installing door handle trims

My dealer worked on the front pax door for some rattles and took the interior door panel off and reinstalled. Noticed that the burl wood trim isn't properly clipped in. I propped it off and tried to reclip it into the black plastic door handle but noticed at the top of the wood trim, there is a curved notch that does not fit into the slot on the black plastic handle on the door panel.

Does anyone have any idea how I get the wood trim to fit correctly? Just being anal and would like to do this now. Otherwise, another trip back to the dealer tomorrow when they open. Thanks.

If you follow the shape of the handle covers, you'll encounter at the lowest position a little space, where you could insert a small screwdriver. Pull gently until the tabs are snapping out and make your way carefully to the top, dont pull the handle just upwards, you'll brake some tabs maybe.
For a clean installation, insert the top tap into its notch and place the cover straight and proper aligned over the handle. Then start to push the cover from top to the bottom and watch the correct reconnection of the other tabs. Dont try to push on top and bottom at same time, that wouldnt work.

Thanks for the instructions. The issue I am having is that I can't get the top curved L- shaped tab on the wood trim to fit through the notch on the door. Tried holding the piece perpendicular or at an angle to get the tab to hook into the notch, but for the life me, can't seem to get that section of the piece to fit and sit flush with the handle.

Hmm, could you upload a pic with it? Maybe better to understand and to imagine.

Meanwhile Im affraid that I know what you mean. Refer to the red circled area, thats the top hook which must be inserted into its notch. After that, the whole trim cover must be slightly bend upwards against the top hook to insert the next 4 blue circled following studs. Thats the trickiest part of all. As soon as they snapped in, the tension disappears and you're be able to install the rest of the cover more easily.
Hope that'll help you

Yes, that red circle is giving me fits. The tech at the dealer didn't bother to install correctly either and left that tab sitting on top of the notch. And the tab on my trim isn't as high as in the pic, so have very little room to clip it into the door handle.

Yes, the 3xx Series have otherwise fitted trims, but the way is still the same. You have to insert that tab and bend the trim gently but not overdose the force until the next tab are snapping into their holes. No other way to go.

Thank you. Will give it a try after work tonight. Dealer wants me to send them a pic so I don't waste time coming back just for an install since it seems the wood is gouged at many places when they tried to pry it off.

I couldn't get it installed. It was the opposite end where the curbed tab doesn't have enough space and the angle was awkward to slip the tab into the notch on the door handle. The dealer ordered a new wood trim and will have them install it when the part comes in.

Sad to hear that this all was completely in vain
