Thumbs up ER 4" Catless down pipe review

I got the ER 4" catless down pipe installed. I have to say that it is a huge difference in overall power, sound at WOT (sounds amazing on the 8AT, upshift farts lol), turbo spool and sound. You really do hear the turbo way more.

It does get smelly (I guess that's what you get for going catless), but thats mostly at idle. I guess thats the only downside to running catless, not sure if the catted one has the same sound and performance.

The best part about is driving in sport mode. When you shift at like 4-5k rpm at WOT, the upshift farts are really loud. Makes it more fun to drive.

Haha, trust me it is a night and day difference from stock. I highly recommend it, especially if you have the 8AT.

Do you have the stock exhaust or a tune? Did engine light come on?

How would you describe the power gains? significant?

I'm on stock exhaust. NO tune. The engine light actually came on today. It's in the dash. Nothing shows up on idrive or in the vehicle status, so its not a big deal as I thought it would be.

Power gains are definitely noticeable and sound is much louder compared to stock. You hear the turbo spool and the upshift exhaust noises are also quite more pronounced now.

Will a CAN tool erase de engine light? Or will it only erase it temporarily until it shows up again?

From the dynos I've seen, it seems that one would expect about a 15-20whp gain without a tune. Another great benefit is it decreases spool time helping with lag, not to mention the sound upgrade if that's your thing.

The fun comes from the ability to tune safely with more boost. Gaining about 75whp from just a tune and dp seems pretty normal.

I am debating on taking the down pipe off. The smell is getting annoying, I'll wait a week or so to see if it goes away slightly since I just put it on.

I get smell when the windows are down and I am cruising and coming to a stop at a light, I def can smell it.

I don't believe so. Even so, the catted HFC down pipe has smell as well.

If anyone is interested in buying my ER catless down pipe, I may sell it.

Wow, that was quick lol

Anyone have comments about the HFC smell? I was under the impression that you shouldn't be able to notice it (otherwise why would anyone buy them?).

Of course there are plenty of people who say they barely notice the smell of catless but that probably comes from them getting used to it.

yeah seriously quick!

it depends on one's threshold for the stink for sure...I never run catless, at the minimum, a 200 cell cat helps absorb that gas smell....
