Pros:
Gorgeous looks
More exclusive than the 3 series
Utility in terms of the hatch & 4 doors
Handles slightly better than the current 335i

Cons:
No manual
Feels too big at times
More expensive than the 3 series with the same interior/features & engine
Lol fuck it get both.

I changed from a 335D to a 440i GC a few months ago. Apart from the engine, the main differences are:

Suspension is so much better in the GC (though it is MSport)

Looks, the GC just looks so much cooler

Boot space. Meant to be the same but seems more awkward in the GC. I have to take my driver out of my golf bag. That said, the hatchback makes access much easier and you can take bigger loads.

Rear headroom, definitely less in the GC

That said, I much prefer the GC, it just feels a better, rarer and more distinctive car

GC doesn't feel bigger to me. It feels smaller because of the way the rear roof slopes

The GC had the LCi suspension before the 3 series got the LCI. The 435 already had it.

I've found this to be annoying as well. I can fit my clubs in without taking out my driver, and can get 2 sets in without a ton of hassle if the other person doesn't have a monster bag...

But to get 3 sets in I had to have everyone take out their drivers AND fold down one of the rear seats.

Oh well, I mean I'll only have to do that a couple times a year but it is a minor annoyance...

I totally agree with you that the aesthetics of the 4 are what sold me on it over the 3. Have gotten a lot of comments on it pulling into parking lots saying how 'sweet' my ride is...

Sorry to bump an old thread but was just researching differences between 340 vs the 440. I have a 340 on order but I have to admit the 440 GC is freakin sexy as hell. I sat in the back of one and agree the head room is def more restrictive. The carbon black is slick though. Is the GC still limited to auto tranny only? Thought I read somewhere where you could get on with 6MT but I may have been mistaking it with the coupe F32

GC. I went back and forth and ended up paying more for a comparably equipped GC just because I like the stance and road feel better than the 3. The GC does handle better, IMO.

No MT on the GC but that ZF8 reads your mind.

Thanks dude, and it's nothing against automatics, just haven't finished having fun with the 6MTs yet; however, if/when I move to a more densely populated area I'll probably go the 8AT route. I test drove an auto in the 340 and it was pretty stellar.

Does the GC actually have a different suspension setup than an equivalent sedan?

According to BMW website the GC has a different suspension. I drove the X drive versions of both back to back and could tell the difference. I don't know what the exact differences are or if it comes down to lower ride height or wider track.
