Yeah every car I've ever owned before this was a stick. I decided to get an automatic this time because I read that it was faster and I also wanted the automatic cruise control option. It's the one thing I regret about this car. I should have got the manual.

I also switched from manual to automatic. No regrets here

I see that the MSRP and Wholesale Price for the MPPSK and Chrome Exhaust Tips are listed in this thread but has anyone managed to figure out the invoice price on them or is the wholesale price same as the invoice price?

Wholesale price is the 'invoice' price for buying them from the dealer after you have your car.

For port installed invoice (IE, price when you order it as part of your new car), see this post (#231) earlier in the thread:
http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...&postcount=231

We only have invoice for the chrome tips, but you can make guesses based on that, I think.

Install is scheduled for Tuesday. Once installed I want to give it a few days and maybe 100 miles or so to let everything settle and the ECU learn the new settings. Hopeful we will have the after dyno in about 1.5 weeks. The local dealership claimed I needed a loaner and they had a 2 week wait. Going to drop it off Tuesday morning and I'm hoping to have it back the same day with first impressions Tuesday night.

Quick question - can't see sig lines on my phone -

Are you in a manual or auto 340i? Xdrive or RWD? Msport or TrkHndling or neither or both?

Just wanted to get a feel for how much you like it and what your baseline is.

And thanks for doing this!

Sure. Its a 340i Auto. No x-drive. I do not have track handling, but have M-Sport with adaptive suspension. Other packages are Lighting, Cold Weather, Driver Assistance I, Technology.

Sweet, that's mechanically the same as me. Waiting patiently... ok, not really patiently, but waiting.

Update #4. The car went on track a week ago and performed flawlessly. It clearly isn't a track car due to roll but it was fun pounding down the straight at 140. Temps were never an issue as it was in the 70's with low humidity. Non scientific but when my dad was in the passenger seat he said the power meter was approaching 400hp.
I was amazed by the brakes, they were only limited by the shitty RF's and you do get tons of body roll. If I would have drove the car for a 30 minute session the front tires would have been corded.
The exhaust now has a new patina/color from the heat, now it's more of a shiny gold

Anywho...the exhaust appears to be opening up a little. Even in comfort mode, if you get on it, it provides a nice but loud exhaust note. I'm thinking closer to 50% louder than stock sport mode when you push it (again in comfort mode). In sport mode it provides even more noise and burbles. Not to worry though, when driven civilized it's civilized with a hint more sound, 20%.

Comfort mode, slightly louder than sport mode, I'd say 10%, it will be hard for anyone to notice a difference. Only if you get on it a little can you hear a slightly louder tone.
Sport mode, holy cow. It's the first OEM exhaust that I've had that I could really hear, you can almost feel it. I would say it's loud, loud enough that I would not want to drive around in sport mode 100% of the time. When you go from comfort to sport it's like going from water to gin. You know the valves are open. I'm not sure about the tone, maybe a pitch or two lower but overall not crazy different. I didn't get to redline but I can imagine it gets better. I really need more time with open asphalt. Some crackling but nothing like the video, with music on, windows up, it was faint, like someone lightly talking in the back seat. If your worried about that sound I wouldn't be, unless it really comes out at redline - but it would need to get really loud to be intrusive.

Tune, I noticed the shifting feels more stiff, accurate. Sometimes I would get a jerky stop or start, didn't notice that. It knew it shifts points. Power felt a little better on the low end but I couldn't really gauge how much.
And it's my wife's car, I drive it about 40 miles a week to/from workout so it will take me until the morning to ring it out.

Edit this mornings random thoughts:
from a start the car definitely has more speed than stock, you can see the hood raise and feel the car squat.
Was also surprised that when in sport / paddle mode the car doesn't shift at redline, I thought it shifted up for you??? But it stayed in first gear. She had an S4 before this that shifted and didn't act like a true DCT. Assumed a BMW auto was the same.
At redline and when downshifting the crackling is noticeable, I would guess loud if you were behind it, it belched.
I got a 'sounds great' when I drove into the parking lot.
I'll say it again, in sport mode it's loud compared to stock, not unbearable but you hear and feel it, literally I can feel the center armrest vibrate from the exhaust at certain freeway speeds. It almost sounds like a low drone, but I think it's just loud, I don't hear the resonance/drone in the cabin like I have in aftermarket exhaust.
I do not get any loud start-up. I drive a x5 50i which has open wastegates on startup and sounds like a motor boat for 10 seconds. This is far quieter than that and I'd say no issue.

Edit 2: had the car on the lift, tech inspection for Road America, dads going to use it. I have 'dents' on the top and bottom where everyone is noticing them. Right before the muffler, I would say clearance on the bottom but why does the top have an indentation?
The shop commented on how awesome the manufacturing was, the welds, and there are lot of welds, look very good. He said so much of the aftermarket is pure shit but people buy it to save a few bucks. The rear a-arms also have airflow plates on them. Hard to explain but if you get on your hands you'll see them. He wanted to adapt them to their race car.
Last thing, I downshifted with paddles from 70'ish and when it went from 3rd to 2nd at 6,500 rpm I think the car behind me thought I was shooting at them. Holy shit, sounds like a machine gun, pretty cool. Sport mode is getting addictive, maybe I could live everyday with it. Comfort seems boring.
Just wanted to bump this, you've done some edits I'd missed until just a minute ago, I thought maybe some other folks might have missed them too.
And thanks for the reports, BTW curious which dealer you work with, I'm about a mile from Motorwerks.

Mine was installed today by the local dealership, no complaints except the carwash bay did a bad job as usual.

As I pulled on the onramp for the interstate this afternoon I punched it. The back end wiggled as it tried to gain traction, the exhaust roared like an angry lion, my stomach had butterflies that reminded me of roller coasters, and all I could do was utter "Goooooood god"

Smiles were had, high fives were shared between me and the dash board.

Money well spent.

Sport mode is very aggressive and comfort is still toned down. I only have 40 miles on the car after the install so I'm expecting the exhaust to open up some more. I will be calling the dyno shop tomorrow and try to get an appointment for friday for the after dyno.

Oh, and the exhaust note at idle with sport mode is intoxicating. I'll try to capture it with my dslr or 6p and post up a video.

Been fun as it gets colder, exhaust might be a little louder, I can feel it vibrating my seat in certain situations! And car pulls harder of course. Last weekend I didn't drive the car at all and Monday morning the pops and crackles were particularly aggressive.

Also, funny story, my 3yr old is a big fan and I've been teaching him all about the exhaust. My wife was driving him around in our Q7 and a Mini with an exhaust system passed them. He heard it, perked up and said "Mommy did you get a new exhaust too?" She explained that it was another car, and then she asked him if the sounds it made were called burbles. Apparently he said "No, those were crackles. But exhausts make burbles too."

Then my Dad came over with his 28i Z4, my boy was checking out his exhaust and was quite curious why it had two tips on one side instead of a dual exit setup like mine. I explained it's because my car is much faster.

...awesome...

Just the other day I was explaining to my 7 year old why the guy parked next to us was full of crap. He had an M badge on a 328. "Look at the tailpipes boy! You can always tell by the tailpipes!"

I just had a confidence destroying talk with my local dealer, I called my service advisor for a labor quote on the MPPSK and he said "What is an MPPSK?" I found this troubling because I'd asked him two months ago about it and he didn't know then either so I'd explained what it was, I guess he forgot, no biggie. So anyway he transfered me to parts where I told them I have a '16 340 xDrive with Auto Trans and I wanted price and availability for the MPPSK, after a few minutes on hold dude said installed price was $6065.00, just for kicks I asked if that included the tips and after a few more minutes on hold he quoted $128 each for stainless and $254 each for CF, I then asked how much of the installed price was labor and he quoted $363.00. He then informed me the MPPSK is not yet available in the US market. I didn't bother to tell him how screwed up he had everything, instead I asked about the M Performance Limited Slip Differential and after a few more minutes on hold dude said that it is not offered for xDrive equipped vehicles.

I was a parts counterman at a Volvo dealer many years ago and understand they have a whole line of cars with all kinds of variations to keep track of where I only have to concern myself with my own car but dam, this was disappointing to say the least. I emailed the other dealer in town and explained what happened and the mistakes I think were made and requested a correct quote from them, let them know I'm a buyer not a tire kicker and that who ever gives me the correct/best deal will get my business, we will see what happens and I'll keep ya all posted.

I was all excited to post my installation date for both the MPPSK and MPLSD, instead I have to report this. A bit of a let down for sure but ... my day will come!

Sounds like it's time to drop a dime on your dealer. . . . . . BMW NA is willing to help straighten out misunderstandings like this.

Temperatures here have now dropped to the mid-50s and high-40s and the exhaust now has about 300 miles on it. Upon a cold startup, the passenger's side rear (from the underside of the car to the rear side window) feels like it's going to shake right off the car. It's a rattle I don't really like. It wasn't there when I first took delivery of the MPPSK last week.

The rattle quickly goes away--probably completely dissipating in about 90 seconds--and I couldn't find anything loose with the exhaust pipes. Nothing rattles once the car is warmed up, either.

I've done a slow roll-by next to concrete buildings and guardrails trying to get the ricocheting sound to reveal a loose clamp or loose heat shield. I get nothing, which is encouraging.

I wonder if it's just the back pressure building-up from the cold start.

NOTE: My BMW tech told me the "sound" part of the kit won't engage for about 2-3 minutes upon the car's initial startup, every time. This seems to be true, as the full "bark" and burble-backfire are not immediately available in sport mode, as the MPE-only is.

I'm not a huge fan of the exhaust sound. (I was more interested in the "power" part of the MPPSK.) But, I've never got so many compliments on a car's sound.

So, it's definitely music to a lot of peoples' ears.
