Just got an F30 (328 xDrive) as a winter car a few weeks ago for a steal, its a retired loaner. Then last night ordered up the JB4 for it. Putting H & R springs on this week, they showed up Thursday. I think I may DiNoc the interior pieces with CF and call it a day with that car. This is my first automatic as a daily driver ever, and I'm not too keen on this 8-speed mess. Seems like this car never knows what gear it wants to be in. I'm curious to see if any of you have made any 1/4 mile passes with these cars? Where I moved to in Jersey everyone goes to the drag strip, I was wondering if it was worth taking out. I haven't found a good group of people to auto-x with out here.

What is your driving setup? Perhaps you have something incorrectly set or maybe, just maybe your car has an issue, which needs addressing. Put it to your dealer's service department, but show them what you are experiencing.

I have a 328 xDrive, I drive it in sport mode most often, as comfort was less responsive it seems. Don't get me rolling on the terrible turning radius...our X5 turn's tighter I do like that I can fit both infant seats in it and not have to be too close to the steering wheel. Sorry for the thread jack. I should behave since I'm the FNG around here! received my JB4 yesterday. I just wanted to run it down the track stock, then install and run it juice boxed Used to have the JB4 on my N54 1dirty5 and loved it, its the best mod for the money. I'm pretty excited to try this on the N26. I will report back Last edited by kpro135; 11-02-2013 at 10:13 PM.. |

Many says this gear box is good. Probably and most likely from those that came from the old 3 series. If they had driven posche's dct or even Volkswagen's u would have said something different.
The 8 shifts a bit slower then I would like. Can't wait for alpina trams shift. (Since the new b3 uses the "same" 8 speed zf. ) |

Porsche uses the PDK acronym and Volkswagen uses DSG. Audi calls it S-Tronic but it's all the same among the three. Tiptronic is not, it's just a shiftable TQ Converter Automatic but not the reason I am resurecting this thread. I am curious to see long term reviews on either the Active Autowerke exhaust or if anyone on here installed the AWE Tuning exhaust. I am interested in both along with tune but cannot find any long term reviews.

Just took my n55 335i 6mt to the dealer for some basic service.
I got an F30 328 as a loaner. Of course, i decided to run 3 gallons of E85 on this thing and WOW is all i'm going to say... This thing LOVESSSSSSSSSSS E85. |

Presuming the 328i was stock...(ie no chip) and no ability for the car to recognize the change in fuel density (ie dramatically increase fuel amount because of e85)
Adding 3 gallons of e85 will no doubt lean out the air/fuel ratios as the density of E85 is considerably less than petrol. You need to be very careful Leaning out the A/F ratios on a turbo car..... It felt better because the increase in octane and leaning out of the factory Rich A/F ratios. Extremely dangerous without knowing how close you are to leaning it out to the point of blowing the engine up |

I've been looking into running E85 once I get the JB4 for my N26 EWG 328i. 328i are not recommended to run E85 but 320i's are okay to do so. Confirmed with BMS today:
"E85 use is still not supported on the 328i EWG vehicles. The 320i has more headroom in the fuel trims to keep AFR adjusted properly. The x28i vehicles will lean out and it can cause physical damage to the engine." Kind of bummed to hear that but hopefully there will be another solution. |
