Software update to remember last ASS setting

Mate of mine went to his dealer to have the software update done so that the car remembers the last ASS setting. It's a 1 1/2 hour job involving plugging a cable in and hitting "start" (or thereabouts)

He's had his 328i for 3 weeks...

Quoted $440.

While the idea of remembering the setting sounds good, I don't mind the system personally so it's not an issue for me. But quoting that for a practically brand new car? Ouch.

What a bunch of crooks!!

I'll do it for free, it's a 2 minute job, which requires $4 worth of hardware

Fark me.... $400+ just to CODE something that the US dealers are rolling out as part of 'normal scheduled software maintenance'?????????

That's just atrocious. Will ask for this when I get a call from dealers regarding ETA on delivery. If they quote ANY figure just to put new software on, I'll let them know how I feel through BMW Aust when they call regarding service and satisfaction...

I know BMW charge a premium for everything but this is ridiculous...

My car's going in for a service with a rear view camera issue (http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=735236) on Monday, might see if I can get them to include the update pro bono.

Hey guys, I just took delivery of my F30 320d Sport Line (being my first BMW) on Tuesday this week in Perth. I have to say I am over the moon with it.. fully optioned.. I had read up on the ASS Setting about a week before delivery, as I knew it would probably annoy me having to remember it every time. Auto Classic changed the settings for me free of charge. I just had to sign an authority for them to do so. Not sure its just a case by case thing.

Smile BMW F30 Msport 320d automatic "suspension'?

Ive just joined this website today, and i have a big question which i hope all you BMW enthusiasts will help me with>....

Going to order a 320d m sport auto bmw in estoril blue, with professional sat nab. vis lights pack etc etc. But i cant make my mind up with the suspension. I have a bad back and anything to firm is a problem. One dealer said buy the M sport as it is and add the adaptive suspension option, this will make it softer and you can then turn if you want back to the normal m sport firm setting. another said buy m sport with deleted M suspension and add the adaptive option. I really do like the m sport design and body shape etc but it just the question on suspension thats stopping me at the moment. Has anyone any experience about this and any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks Peter

Wrong thread?

Anyway to solve your problem arrange a test drive for a day or weekend. Only way to be sure. If your back is that bad you might want something higher off the ground also.

I just went through this. BMW Australia didn't want to come to the party with providing this recode for free. The dealer quoted me $300. After some force was applied including providing posts from this very site from American owners BMW finally agreed to pay for the recoding. The other option is to sweet talk the dealership and see if they'll just do it for you.

My F31 arrives later this month and I've asked for the ASS to be re-programmed as part of the dealer pre-delivery. They did my F10 at no charge.

I've also asked then to delete the Accept screen on startup. I hate that thing.

Guys,

I had my car in for the 15K Service during the week and talked about the ASS coding with the service tech.

At first he claimed it wasn't part of the scheduled service/warranty and was going to charge me for it.

After a minute or two of persuasive discussion and stating the guys it the states are getting it done as a warranty issue he relented and said, nudge nudge wink wink, we'll sort it for you. I advised him not to do it if there was any cost to me.

Anyway, when I went to collect the car the tech said they didn't do it, BUT, it was covered by BMW but they needed a day to get the code (authorisation) from BMW and to drop it back when i wanted it done.

I'm going to get the new one done prior to collecting though!

Be safe.

H
