Roof Bars

Hi, I want some roof bars for my f30 330d, I can find some on various sites for 3 series saloon 05- which I guess is the previous incarnation, does anyone know if the fittings are the same on the f30 as the previous? I found some thule ones for 118 quid which seems a bargain and it suggests they fit but they wont be a bargain if they dont lol!!

BTW anyones brakes squeak? been doing it since I got the car and 1200 miles of spirited driving doesnt seem to have stopped it..

The bar length from the E9X to the F3X are exactly the same, as for rapid system it should 753 which is also the same for the F31 with the exception of fixpoint. I'd check with Thule uk fit guide for the exact fixpoint you need.

As for the bars go for the aero or wingbars and forget the square ones as they look a bit poo.

Do yourself a favour and forget about the BMW branded ones. Some people say they prefer the styling as the bars don't hang over like the Thule ones but for the extra premium it's not worth IHMO. I personally prefer the hangover as it better for loading and increased space for roofbox + bike racks etc etc.

See my previous posting with Thule aerobars which I carried over from the E91.

I've been thinking of getting the BMW bars for my touring. I hate the overhang of the generic bars, looks so cheap! Just my opinion.

I don't mind the overhang but you can just buy shorter bars. The BMW branded ones are overpriced ... what isn't from BMW? My brother has the BMW branded roofbars and he ended up having to buy additional T-Track adapters to fit his Thule gear to the bars. It's just an extra expensive I can do without.

It's criminal that BMW sells a 460 ltr roofbox for £605! Get a Thule one for about 60% of the price.

I agree on the roof box, I certainly wouldn't buy the BMW branded one!
