Bavsound stage 1 speakers resistance for base system
Hi all, I have bought the Bavsound stage 1 speakers for my base audio system. They have finally arrived and I checked the resistance which is coming in at 2ohms. The speakers in the car are 8ohms, so is it safe to drop this much ?
I have mailed Bavsound and they gave me a poor response (basically no confirmation that the 2ohm is correct/safe), so has anyone else fitted the Bavsound in their base audio and checked the speaker resistance before fitting them ? I have the Alpine upgrade and those speakers were 4ohms which makes me more suspicious of the Bavsound 2ohm version. Poor customer service from Bavsound. |

In the base audio setup the woofers and front speakers are connected in parallel each 8 ohms so the effective impedance connected to the headunit is 4 ohms stock so you should be sure that 4 ohms are safe.
Either way the headunit outputs a 25W signal at 2 ohms so that's why I reckon Bavsound are sending you 2 ohm speakers. You should have ordered the Bavsound speakers for the Hifi system since you technically have a Hifi amp system now. Anyway, speaker ohm and power ratings are not a big deal at normal volume levels. Thanks for the feedback. The base system speakers are 8ohms in the front and rear doors and 4 ohms in the subs. The front and subs are connected in parallel so the head unit was running 3ohms front and 8 ohms rear.
The Alpine kit splits the subs and front speakers, so it is running 4 ohms front speakers, 4 ohms subs and 8 ohms rear. Is it really safe to drop from 8 ohms to 2 ohms on the rears ? |
