Mate, you live two hours away! Get your arse there.

Beautiful city with an absolutely gorgeous town square.

The Ducati factory is a must see, especially those enough lucky enough to own one of their machines.

Venezia is a pretty nice place too! When we there in June we stayed down at St Elena, lived liked the locals for a few days. Absolutely loved it! We not stayed in the city before.

My first vehicle. However I know the rules. I parked legally for a fact. I know I did because as soon as I returned the same cars were still parked there; however mine was missing. It's legit a curb for a neighborhood. So idk what you're getting at from here.

A pro with the right equipment can steal just about any car without a fob or flatbed. Ask any repo guy...

Free? Most dealers offer it, but it's not free (I've never had a dealer install it at no charge, anyway).

And even if the dealer doesn't offer it, you can use the LoJack website and find a local installer.

AFAIK there's only two ways to steal a newer properly locked BMW: tow it (low tech) or break in and use the OBD port to program a new fob (high tech). BMW assist can attempt to track your vehicle if requested by the PD however most sophisticated thieves will pull the fuse and disable the system.
Good luck - when my car was stolen (left the fob in it ) they used the car for months before it was recovered and I had to deal with multiple red light cam and parking tickets in my name!

You seem pretty easy going in your response to others for someone who just had there car stolen. I know it would be bothering me and I would be worried about what to do. Anyway BMWs get stolen all the time where I am in Germany. Thieves steal the car and make it across the boarder into the Netherlands so the German police have no jurisdiction. Which makes me think that these cars are easy to steal if you have an idea about what your doing.

They must have changed this in the new app. The old BMW Remote app was limited to 1/2 mile. Good to know.

The only reason that makes me feel better is that I hope to get a 335i if I can't recover. I'm trying to stay positive man, but it really does suck..

Vehicle locator never works for me correctly.

Pretty sure that's not the only two ways. As for OBD - I know in my last car, the control module that has to be connected to to program keys wouldn't respond to programming connections unless the doors were unlocked. I guess if you break the window and unlock them, you could beat that protection. But it keeps a remote connection (say you left a bluetooth obd dongle plugged in) from being able to unlock your car from outside, if you locked it properly.

I bet there's also a way to hack in over the ConnectedDrive/BMW assist connection, like was demonstrated recently on Chryslers. And there's probably a way to bypass the immobilizer if you know the wiring diagram and harnesses well.. old-school 'hotwiring' gone modern.

Then there are devices that are basically big antennas plus repeaters.. so if you're inside the house, they point one antenna at the house, and hold the other near the door, and it 'relays' your fob's signal to the car to open the door and start the engine. The car thinks the fob is nearby when it's really further away.

Basically, no lock or security system is flawless. All they are is deterrents and roadblocks. Smart enough or brave enough thieves get around them eventually. The hope is they slow the thief down enough that they get caught, but theft technology keeps advancing just like anti-theft technology. And once someone has invented the better 'lockpick', they sell it to less-bright thieves to take the actual risks.

Not true. Using the 2 black box solution virtually any car with fob can be stolen very easily and quickly, although it is a 2 person job - but second person could have been at the party near the OP and he would have never known it.
