doh, let's hope that is not the case. It will suck if you have to source FEM and swap it. cedchung, what options did your car have when you bought it?

cedchung, try to code VO 322 to ZGM. I think ZGM shows up as different module in ISTAP although it is integrated into FEM. Can you check to see if CAS shows also. I am guessing so far you have VO 322 to FEM only.

According to Rheingold CAS is responsible for central locking and comfort access. Well all the cars have central locking so theoretically comfort access is part of that and new FEM should not be needed. Unless there are different version of the CAS module inside FEM.

As far as I know, ZGM and CAS are all integrated in the FEM on the F30 and do not show up under different modules.
I will check again.

As a replacement there is no difference but when they make the car there definitely is.

What confuses me more is that in all the literature from BMW in Rheingold it makes it sound that all the necessary things are already built into FEM. CAS is already there to control locking and start-stop button so I don't see why would there be different CAS module inside just to add CA. The only thing that might be different is the ID receiver by the back window.

I just verified that the salvaged car that I sourced my door handles from is FEM MAX. My FEM is HIGH_E whatever that provides... Based on this http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=822301 I would not even try to attempt to replace FEM. New FEM would be cost prohibitive and used is not an option.

Full flash instead constructive. Just flashing a new cafd file but instead of new just reflash the current one. Not sure if that can be done but if it can at least you don't have to flash the rest of the modules.

I think we can put this to bed that it won't work. I've hooked up a door handle and I'm in the same boat. FEM just won't detect the door handle. The door handle works as it should. I even measured it to make sure it functions. I get constant 12.6v on pin 1 from plug 173*3B. I get 12.7v on pin 3 from plug 173*9B from pin 34 and i touch the groves to lock the voltage drops to 8.2v as it should. That tells me that the handle works. Everything is coded as it should i even verified that the correct changes are made in the cafd to enable comfort access. The loaner i had couple days ago was cli 328 with CA and i checked the FEM and it was HIGH_CA hw 8.4. so i think that any FEM would work but we are missing something in the coding. My FEM provided power to the door handle so that tells me that all the necessary hardware is there.

I don't think so. You have to check what is written on it.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
