Idk I came a cross this video what do you guys think lol I personally wouldn't get it but hey who am I right? Looks like there's a aftermarket i drive display out there

The navigation software is called iGO8 or possibly iGO9. It's infinitely better than BMW's and customizable too. AFAIK, WinCE device only though.

I really don't get this... What can this do that the original iDrive couldn't besides being a tough screen?

It has navigation. Depending on the price I think it might be a mod worth doing since you can add navigation (iGO is crap btw) and backup camera. I personally think the BMW navi is the way to go since you get 8.8" screen and it looks better. The touch screen is worthless because of the position of the screen which is way to far for normal reach. Hey at least someone made the effort and it is interesting since you still retain your original iDrive functions.

Also how exactly is it user friendly if a monitor that far from the normal hand position to be touch display?

Seems like a car accident waiting to happen.

Nav can be retro fitted as I did for my car. Unless this system is significantly more economical then a retrofit... I really see no purpose.
