"Down grade" from a BMW, suggestions? choices?

I am considering parting ways with my car.

On one hand, BMWs are my "dream car" and have always wanted one, however at this point, I think I may want a house more. I "only" have a 328 and an m3 is my true dream car.

My warranty is up in about 3 months and don't know if I feel like dealing with unexpected repairs or expected - I.e. the water pump

It's an 08, 65k on it.

I may keep it and risk it or get an extended warranty but I drive a lot for work so it might not be worth it in the long run.

I own it, well 2 years left oh payments, but i am not upside down on my loan or would be for some time.

Long story short...
if you have to get rid of your BMW for a "lesser" car, what would you go with?

Suggestions?

I have always been into sporty cars, had an Mitsubishi eclipse when I was 16 with rims and a kit, then a Nissan se-r. Always have had a true manual trans including my BMW, would like a somewhat "fun to drive car"

Nothing like a Bimmer though.

I'm sorry to hear of your fork-in-the-road situation, my fellow forum friend. My dream car has always been a BMW, and it took me about 30 years to own one. Anything I owned before that was merely reliable transportation.

I would say the best downgrade will be the one you can afford and don't mind driving.

Infiniti G37s

I test drove sedan 6MT. It doesn't ride and handle like BMW but you get a lot of car for $ (it has LSD for example) and reliability is high. Very hard to find loaded 6MT.

I have already thought about a wax, my buddy has one with over 450 hp to the wheels, beastly little cars, but man, they are ugly ... Actually look better with roof racks

What price range are you looking for? Is pre-owned an option for you? Help us out a little bit.

No I am not.

Some people work hard to afford some of the nicer things in life, where some others do not always see things from that perspective, perhaps coming from a well off situation. Some take pride in working hard and rewarding themselves, where others just may not fully appreciate their situation.

I am not claiming to have a Ferrari or Bentley, or am treating it as such. Maybe where you are from and live, a entry level bmw is the same as a push scooter, others come from places where even having a car is good enough.

Prob less than 15-17 g's... More of a " reliable" car than bmw, which is obviously debatable.... Anyone drive any of newer Acura TL or tsx?

The new honda accords seem great. Don't go for a VW I hear those aren't reliable. Toyota and Honda are your safest bet honestly and now days they aren't bad at all. Don't forget KIA, Hyundai, Lexus, and Infinity.

Can't go wrong with a Honda S2000.

Accord V6 6MT Coupe is also a great option.

It is to some (most) people. Any BMW is. Get off your high horse.

OP, I would say a 2006/8 civic is a truly solid car. Also, brz, BRZ ... BRZ!

S2000s are awesome, but very unpractical would be a great weekend car.

What About an older model bmw... Late 90s or early 2000s models? or older? i see a bunch of them on the road, they have to be somewhat cheaper to fix or is that not correct . I have a local bmw Indy...

I've had my VW R32 for eight years and never had a problem. You couldn't give me one of those other cars you mentioned.

If you like your car .... keep it.

Should easily go twice that mileage and more with just a little maintenance.

Unless its been a problem and you want to trade it ...... you know the car and how its been driven!

I don't think that there is anything serious that would prevent you to enjoy your car for 2 more years, unless you consider every repair a problem.

The water pump is a rare issue on 2007+ N52.

I decided to keep mine for 7-8 years or 110000 miles. Arbitrary "economical" life.

If I was looking for a less premium platform, I think that I would go with a compact and mod it. Ford Focus (maybe ST), GLI or Civic 2013.
