Yes! Forgot about the heated rear seats. My daughter LOVES them. She hated riding in the E90's in winter. Always complained about not having seated seats like the front. Problem solved in the F30.

I noticed that too in a F30 Loaner. The seat heaters were a bit weak.

My 2013 F30's heated seats don't seem to work properly. I have the cold-weather package and my heated steering wheel takes about a minute to start getting warm, two minutes before it's toasty. My heated seats, on the other hand, seem to take forever to work at all, and the highest setting is less noticeable than the lowest level in my 2012 Chevy Volt. From what I recall, my best friend's heated seat in his E90 got REALLY hot REALLY fast. Any body have a solution? Maybe it's just an issue on my car that is uncommon?

Heat transfer. ..

Personally. IMHO, i think you all are making this a bigger case than it is...

The amount of time it gets up to speed/heat temperatures depends on a lot of factors:

- material and amount of padding used in the seat compared to the E90
- current ambient temperature
- personal feel for temperature (example: my wife think the highest setting is too hot too fast, i think its perfect and getting up adequately)

Furthermore, this is heated seats. As long as it works, no issue.
BM W has not promised on the amount of time it will performed.

I am in southern california, and by the time my car is warmed up in the morning, i get in my seat all warm and ready.

This should be categorized as first world problem.

I never tested it but I wonder if seats take more time to warm up in Eco mode.

Compared to my e46 the F30 takes a bit longer but in the e46 I was being cooked alive after 15 min. The f30 is more comfortable

I have had two e92 335 coupes a 2007 and a 2011, before my current 2014 435. All have had heated seats. The seats in the 435 are really useless in my opinion. They take forever to get warm even on 3 and never get really hot. Both of my 335 coupes got hot very fast. I complained to my dealer who checked them out and I was told they are working according to specs which is 85 degrees. The only thing I can figure is the 435 has sports seats and both 335 coupes did not. Maybe the additional padding in the sports seats keeps the heat from coming through

The heated seats in my 2014 x6 will cook you in about 30 seconds. Same in the 2013 x5d. My 2013 AH335 suck. Takes for ever to heat up and never stay hot. I have had them check twice. They are so weak.

Seats heat within 1 minute and the steering wheel within 30 seconds (can't believe how fast it is)

Good question. I do know that eco mode reduces some of the electrical drain. Could be.

On my 2014 435, the seat heaters warm up very quickly; on mild cold days like today in the Northeast, I end up turning it off within 5-10 minutes because it gets too hot. This is for Comfort mode; I am still going thru break-in and haven't used eco mode yet so not sure if that would make a difference.

Using Eco mode is the method I use to lower the lowest setting, which is the highest I have been able to take. I have sport seats. And I live in Northern Calif, so I'm more like waiting for an earthquake than cold weather. Anyway, Eco mode seems to work as a down-tweak for some energy-consuming functions in my 435.

I can not imagine eco/sport/comfort makes a difference. Even more so than the heat-up time i think the maximum temp is very weak compared to my previous 2 e90s. The interesting thing is that i didnt really notice this last winter (which was a pretty cold one), but i am already noticing it now. I wonder if its just my imagination or if they are weaker than they used to be.

The seats in my 2011 E90 seemed to get hotter much quicker than in my 2014 F30. They would be at full heat in 1-2 minutes while my F30 takes 3-5 minutes. They still get very warm. It could be I don't notice it as much as I'm usually wearing a heavy leather pilot style coat.

My 2011 e90 steering wheel and seats got too hot really fast. My 2015 f31 takes about 5 minutes for both and doesn't get all that toasty - comfortable for sure, but nothing special

F36 here, heated seats work very quickly and get very hot. I find anything more than the lowest setting quite uncomfortable

My F30 heated seats feel toasty in about 1-2 minutes. The X5 however takes about 3-4 minutes. Heated steering wheel on the X5 almost feels hot immediately but the F30 takes about 1.5 minutes to feel really warm. Why such difference in heated seats and steering in the same brand of automobile I'll never know

But if it's any consolation, the new subaru Forester....the heated seats take about 8-10 minutes to feel "not cold"

Tested is morning, 0 degrees celsius outside, dakota leather seats, time to get warm was 3,5 minutes. I had a loaner last week with fabric seats and that was much faster (1 minute).

Edit: 32 degrees fahrenheit

For those that are curious, Eco Pro mode does limit the maximum heat temperature of the heated seats and steering wheel in order to save on energy, as well as Climate Control functions. If you switch to Comfort mode, you will notice that your bum will feel just a bit more toasty, although to the point...it doesn't affect warm-up-time.

For those that are interested, and I am definitely not suggesting anything here...there are coding options that allow users to toggle the maximum temperature of the heating elements in the seats. Not that I've changed it on my car or anything....hint hint...but my seats are warm pronto now.
