Hi Guys,
1st time poster here, have enjoyed reading the forum so far. Im after a little help. Looking at a 320i Touring Alpine white lands here end of month It comes with, Bus Nav, M Sport,Side Blinds, and BT audio. Dealer saying best can do is 73k, or 1214/m on a 4year/full circle. I know its a new car so im guessing my buying power isnt too strong. My dilemma is that for near the same price i could get 328i touring w/sport but have been told not ready for production now till May so that means July/August delivery. Driving an Audi 1.8t avant, that has been nothing but trouble and is 3 years in April, and cant wait to get rid of it What are your guys thoughts ? wait for the 328i or jump into the 320i, which will be a massive improvement anyway of my audi or my wifes my10 320i |

thoughts, eh?
never trust your dealer full circle rates are expensive and not worth it in my view get what you want and bargain like you don't want it. I'm always happy to wait and build to order. |

Hi Mackie,
I had a quick look at the price diff between the sedan, I have nvr really considered a touring before so some assumptions of mine could be abit off. Seem like tourings are generally ~4k plus more than the base model. Lets use your 320i sedan and 320i touring. Generally loading options on a 320 vs options on a 328 are more expensive. Bus Nav ~1k M Sport ~5-6k Side Blinds ~500 BT audio ~500 Alpine white = Free as its non metallic If a base touring is 69k adding all of these components would make it roughly 77k so seems about right if u got a between 70-73 depending on how much u can squeeze. Having said that, I know that most of us who got almost fully loaded 328 m sports for between 87-90k. So if a base 328 is 72k a touring would be say what 76k.. Add on m sport pack ~5-6k,bringing it to early 82k lets say..before any price negotiation. Personally I got like 7k~ off my build. So you'll be paying abit extra for a better engine with more loaded options as it seems you are not too fussed about the extra stuff. Hope this helps P/S- they will be earning quite a fair bit off you when you do full circle. I got the finance manager to calculate the difference in payment for me. I suggest you do the same for a more informed decision. If you're going full circle do try hard to push for 4 year service free, you're paying for it in terms of interest anyway. Quote:

It would play on your thoughts for the entire ownership knowing that if you waited just a few months, the F31 320i or 328i are more fuel efficient and faster. Not worth it IMO

Is the configuration of this car to your requirements? Make 100% sure first. Get the best price for the car of YOUR choice, then lop a bit more off it and say here's my offer. Yes or no. Just stick to it, even if it's $500 shy. No good in Sydney, then email Melbourne, Brisbane or Adelaide dealers. If your offer is REASONABLE, one will most likely take it.

Do your homework, see what other dealers have to say. You will learn very quickly as to the pricing you need to offer. Just take a little time to consider everything.
Carefully consider the options as well. Ask here if you are not sure.

David makes a good point. Pop me a PM with your number if you want me to refer you to a good dealership in Brisneyland. I managed a blisteringly good deal on my car.

MSport Estoril Blue Business Nav Extended bluetooth connectivity Sunroof Xenons Anti-dazzle Sport Brakes Rear view camera Lumbar Sports steering Still in negotiation mode, but looking at around midish 70s driveaway. 76k or so. Going ok or should I keep screwing them down? They want to do the deal. |

I think you would be getting a pretty good deal if you could get it under 80k with those options.
Though I would suggest you consider the Pro Nav with the bigger screen. I have got the smaller Bus Nav screen and always wished for Pro Nav with the split screen capability. |

I thought he was doing me a good deal. We have a pre-existing professional relationship and he said he would look after me. Just wanted to check. I thought his offer of 76k was pretty good.
It will be a country/highway mile eater, with some fun driving every now and again. Any most have options that I have missed? |

Negotiate a lower price. Why pay more if you don't have to?

Leather, business nav, anti-dazzle/folding mirrors, HiFi sound and lumbar control - all these things are standard on the 328i but not the 320d/i and the price difference is only 6k. So it would be logical that any BMW dealer would be willing to provide a bigger discount to the 320i/d. Another thing to consider is that generally options are not worth much on trade-in (a fricking salesman said that to my face , like 5 minutes after he suggested a few options on the new car. I choked on the irony). A lower spec car with more options will not retain its value as well as a higher spec car with less options even if when new the prices were the same. But I can see why you want a diesel. Does the M-Sport package come with lowered suspension? If you care about handling don't leave your car with stock suspension. Sport suspension at minimum and M-adaptive all the better going by what people are saying. |

I do 35-40,000km a year. Hence looking at the diesel. But I have been tossing up between the 320d and the 328i.
I'm coming from a Golf R which, although good, isn't really suited to what I do any more. We were discussing pricing on the 328i and I could get a similar deal. M adaptive is optioned but I left it off the list. Whoops. It's a must have after driving a car back to back with and without it. Same with sports seats. ETA, base driveaway price with the options I want there's now only 3.5k difference on list price. Hmm. How's the fuel consumption on the 328i for mainly highway driving anyway?
