Buy in the dips.. could be some good opportunities to get in at a low price coming up, looking at the market today

Best opportunities to make 100x your investment is to find a promising altcoin in early stages with a low market cap of 100million or less. Remember it's not so much about finding a promising coin with low value per coin it's more about a promising coin with a low market cap. A coin can have a market cap of 10 billion but each coin is only worth $0.30. Another coin can be worth $5 each but has a market cap only 100million. If both of these coins show to have great future potential after doing your research which has the most room for market growth, the $0.30 coin which already has a market cap of 10 billion or the $5 coin with a market cap of just 100million?

I'm Currently trying to find the most promising altcoins with low market caps of around 100million

That makes sense, thanks.

Any other tips, much appreciated

What is it that determines a "promising" coin?

Look into who is behind the coin, is it a team worth backing. Does the coin bring anything new to the table compared with what's already out there etc. Is it just a pump and dump coin? (Best to avoid these for longer term holding).
It's worth joining forums such as bitcointalk.org too.

I like the look of Oyster Pearl (PRL).. low market cap (100million). I'm taking a punt with $200 and expect it to be worth somewhere between $2k and $20k by the end of the year.
Only risk what you can afford to lose, and don't invest it all on just one coin, spread it a little.

And explain to me what underpins any of those valuations - from 200 dollars to 20k dollars. If there isn't an asset or income stream. Then it's just speculation and it could equally be worth 2c

Agree it could .. which is why I'm not investing more than a $200 punt. I believe PRL could increase its market cap by between 10 and 100x after reading up on the technology hence my 2k to 20k prediction.
This is my opinion you are welcome to predict it will be worth 2c if that's what you believe

I don't believe any of it - this all leaves me bemused in the same way that I didn't understand the dot com boom valuations back in the day...

I suppose you don't believe that ripple increased 38000% in the last 12 months either

I have no reason not to - but I also remember what goes up must come down unless it has a reason to stay up.

Carillion was once worth a billion - look at it now....

They're all worthless when the curtain is pulled back and people see nothing.

Bitcoin and a few others at least have some utility.

And remember all these things are just code, miners and addresses or similar.
What makes one amazingly unique can make all others the same in a few months... software.

Bitcoin has already changed a lot in it's lifetime, to suit the use of it as money (yes to actually spend!).

If there is something amazing in PRL, by the way these things work (open code) for open ledgers, which is why these things are 'a thing' (unless you class pure hype alone as 'a thing'), then any other crypto currency could use the idea immediately or within weeks.

Thus the advantage seems to be with established players who can adapt and assimilate... which is what btc has been doing from day one.

Presumably at some point there will be some regulatory intervention. It isn't in the interest of G20 countries to have unregulated currencies which can be used to avoid tax, for money laundering, avoiding UN sanctions, or be used for criminal activity. Several of the regulators and central banks have put out warnings of varying severity recently, including the FCA, BoE, Fed, SEC. I see these as a forerunner to a major tightening of regulation, which will probably in effect be game over for the majority.

Some remaining advantages of cryptocurrencies - anonymity, instant transactions, universality, could vanish at a stroke. The advantages are supposed to come from innovation, but many just come from not having to comply with the same regulations as everyone else.

Whether this happens next week, next month or next year is an open question, but it seems bound to happen. In the meantime this could go up down or sideways, but ultimately I expect many to become virtually worthless.

It's lost quite a lot in value the last few days .. but it gained 38000% in 12 months from the start of last year. It will go up again but you'll never get those kind of gains from ripple in the future obviously.

I hope bitcoin drops to around 2k this month .. if it does I'll buy one and hold until it goes up again in a couple of months, I believe it will reach 20k again this year. Note: bitcoin always drops a lot in value mid January.

Bought, sold a few weeks back, made a decent chunk of change, reinvested the last couple of days so yeah it’s happening! Thing is it’s too damn hard not to buy in a dip like this!

Same here. A light shade of red compared with yesterday's pooled blood though, honestly way better off today than I expected - thought the recovery would take much longer.

Very green taking into account past banked profits.
