Dusk shots, AW 335i

Spent a few minutes shooting around the other night, thought I'd share.

Enjoy!

Wow gorgeous photos! Car looks beautiful!! What camera and lens are you using? Looks like you're using a starlight filter and a graduated ND?

Thanks, I wish I had remembered to pack my tripod but they turned out pretty good handheld. Shot on a T2i with a Canon 50mm 1.4, I have a few that I shot on the 8mm fisheye I just got but I didn't edit any of them since I wasn't in love but maybe I'll post some when I get some time.

The light stars are unedited, that's straight out of the camera. The only editing done was tweaking the RAW levels (including a graduated filter to pop some contrast into the sky) plus a few small rubber stamps to edit out the plate/hitch and some other stuff.

I could've punched the contrast/sharpness way up but I always try to be semi-restrained with those ones.

One more, 8mm Fisheye, blew this one out to give it some drama...threw in a little subtle ///M humor to the skyline.

Any constructive comments would certainly be welcome, particularly on the composition.

I wasn't thrilled with the spot I ended up since the car was already in the shade and I only had about 15 minutes before sunset so I just shot what I could and it was all handheld. I was hoping to get direct light on the car but I live in a generally ugly neighborhood of strip malls and locked industrial parks.

Hey, I didn't mean to sound like a jackass. I'm an amateur photog myself. I'm struggling with exposing a black car in bright daylight.
Composition...If subject (car) is pointing left, and you crop so that there's more room on the right then left, it looks unappealing.

This will get you started. Rule of thirds.

Wasn't making you sound like a jackass..I'm a designer, I'm used to people telling me far worse. ;-) I just want to know your actual thoughts so I can digest something useful.

I did try to center the car but it's offset onto the third line. If you look at the two front views the third line actually splits the roundel, but I see your point about the short crop with how it's pointing.

I could probably fix the exposure in post but I didn't put too much time into these...I actually just wanted to take some pictures because I got the car washed and just bought a new lens, but I didn't like any of the shots on the fisheye.

Sadly I got an awesome shot with a train shooting by in the background but handheld it wasn't sharp enough to make me happy.
