protect the rim!

Was looking at everyone's thoughts on bent rim fiasco's with BMWs or aftermarket wheels.

people on this forum claiming 19 inch wheels can bend, but i've seen 18 inch rims bent on the forums as well.

Nobody seems to be stating tire sidewall size as a factor of protection. obviously common sense would assume that a thicker radius sidewall will protect any rim on a pot hole.

Just wanted to hear what other people thought on this matter. and people with 17 inch rims probably don't know what a bent rim is either (driving camry's accord etc.).
