Which style wheel will look best in 18 inch fitment?

Hey guys, I am changing to a new set of wheels but am staying at an 18 inch fitment.

I want to use a wheel that will look "biggest" in that size, i.e. spokes going out as far as possible to the edge to give the illusion of a bigger wheel.

I also want a flow form wheel, so I have narrowed down my options to:

Apex PS-7
18x8.5 et35
18x9.5 et43

OR

VMR V810
18x8.5 et35
18x9.5 et45

I know which one I am leaning to, but wanted to see what you guys thought as well!

these wheels are similar except one has a thinner design. you have the right idea about the spokes needing to go to the wheel edge to create the illusion of bigger wheels however these mesh style designs negate that a bit.

the "larger than they are" illusion occurs with 5 radial spokes or 5, 6 or 7 twin radial or v-spokes, or 9 and 10 thin radial spokes, all out to the wheel edge.

but if you're set between the two above wheels then the apex ps-7 with the thinner spokes will look larger and i believe they are slightly lighter than the VMR's

Hi, great input and I do agree that the mesh style can negate the illusion a bit since the spokes are a bit shorter.

Even my stock 18 inch Sportline wheels appear bigger to me because they are a radial twin 5 spoke that goes out to the edge. I honestly wish I could just find a similar style to that but in a wider, staggered setup.

Any suggestions on the other styles you mentioned? I do want to stay with a flow formed wheel if possible.

Stance SC1 or TSW Bathurst. The Bathurst are pretty much the lightest of the rotary forged/flow formed/forged.

for 7 twin spoke mesh, i find the MRR FS01 better looking than the Apex PS-7 or VMR but they cost a bit more.

Why not just get spacers in that instance?

thanks for the votes so far guys. I am also leaning PS-7 as the votes show. Still deciding whether to stick with 18s which is the cheaper and more practical choice for a daily driver or make the jump to 19s. Again on stock xdrive suspension so its a tough call.

if you make the jump to 19's then there are many more brands and styles to choose from

You live in the Northeast. Go with 18" and your wallet will like you a lot more.

Those potholes will do a bang up job on larger wheels with less sidewall height.

The PS-7 is a fantastic looking wheel. The pictures just don't show the detail of how it looks in person.

Thanks for the input. Did you by any chance have this wheel in 18 inch fitment? Trying to see some real world pics but not many seem to be out there.

Was 255/40/18 a consideration? Did you need new bolts or factory worked?

Here are the first pics of the new setup

18x8.5 et35 APEX PS-7 square mounted with 245/40R18 Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+

It might not be the sexiest setup and I know that most guys are running 19s or bigger, but for me and my daily driver, I am extremely happy. These really flush out to the fender and give a much more squared, meatier stance. And so far the first driving impressions are amazing
