Door Creaking Noises from Rubber Seal
Hello,
I have this really annoying b-pillar door area creaking noises that occur whenever I go over even the slightest road imperfections. It's like body flexing, plastic creaking noises. If some of you guys had this already, was the dealership able to fix it for you? If so, what seems to be the problem? UPDATE: It is the ugly piece of door seal that you visibly see outside, above your windows. It is not gripping as tightly as it should, hence the door will flex causing the creaking noise. The noise may sound like sheets of paper rubbing against each other. dL Last edited by dL.; 02-24-2014 at 09:58 AM.. |

Had this on a f10, i suggest you ensure you do not have any polish on the metal that meets where the rubber sills are, also apply gummipflede to the rubber seals. Make sure you do not apply any silocon based products either. I suspect if you wind down the window by 1 or 2mm the noise will go away aswell. It could also be coming from where the seatbelt comes out of the b pillar as well potentially ( i dont have a dix for that)

Same problem here. Dealer has greased seals multiple times and problem continues to reappear. Sound also seems to come from door panel as well...

I had it too pretty bad so I used silicone spray liberally and it went away. I have been using silicone spray for 25 years on the door seals of all my cars at least once each year. The rubber never looked better and suffered no ill effects. It got rid of the creaking. I only keep my cars 10 years or so and am unconcerned if the seals will degrade in 20.

Which silicone spray did you use and where did you spray it on? Is it just the door seal that is making the creaking noise? How can the seals make noise?
Last time I use Auto Glym Vinyl & Rubber Care and the dealership was blaming me for using that, causing it to creak. So they cleaned it and it was gone. In less than 2 weeks, it came back so I don't think it's the thing that I've used. dL |

This time I used liquid wrench brand silicone spray. Other times I use solder seal silicone spray. I've used many different brands over the years and some last longer than others but not materially.
I sprayed it liberally on the soft rubber door seal all the way around then wiped off the excess with a paper towel. B pillar creaking is gone. It was so bad I could hear it when going over all bumps at low speed. Even my wife noticed this wasn't as quiet as the e90 and she's not a car person at all. I expect creaking to return in a few months as the seal dries out again. One positive side effect of siliconing your door seals is that the doors won't freeze shut in the winter if there is a hard freeze after a rain. My Jetta had this annoying winter habit. |

I had creaking right away and found that it was not the interior door seals but the exterior seal at the very top of the doors. I put Vaseline on the the part that contacts the high gloss black trim and it was immediately gone.

I had the exact same thing. And I still have it, but I know where's from, so it doesn't bother me as much knowing that I can fix it anytime
It's the handle above the door, I don't know how to call it. If I pull down on it, the creaking stops. If I let it go, it starts again. I also thought is from the B-pillar because I heard it somewhere above my left year, but it's that handle. Check yours and report back to the nest.

I had the almost the same issue, mine also rattle from the dash board on driver side, the dealer found the b pillar was poor insulated so they fixed it, so far the last 2 days the noise is gone but I cant tell until I drive the car more on uneven surface street
