I'm with you... Pollen sux. I'm not sure cleaning the car is worth it since there will be a layer of pollen on the car before you even finish. Plus, pollen is abrasive.

Just don't take it out of the garage

Just got done washing my car started around 7pm EST finished at 8pm est. Pollen a plenty around here too. Sprayed some griots Spray on wax while wet and dried off. Puts a nice shine and layer of lubricity, hoping it helps more with next wash. Heck after i hit it with a full clay bar, hard wax and griots best of show detailer just spraying the car down with water removes a lot of the dirt, it pretty much looks clean (and I drive a black car). Even after the wash clay paste wax detailer, the spray wax really brought out the metallic flakes, I caught myself gazing into the paint because after every wipe it seemed as if i was pushing out metallic flakes from my cloth. Product is simply amazing.

I strongly suggest ordering the full line of griots products on pepboysdotcom. They are running 25% off till the end of the month. Thats quite a deal on griots!

I’m a pollen hater and it definitely brings out the OCD in me to keep the car clean. I find using a California Duster helps (just be gentle because pollen is indeed abrasive). Having the Estoril Blue color also helps (pollen doesn’t show up that bad).

Forgive my ignorance but how often do these happen? Is there another one coming up soon?

Thanks

I just removed 18 trees from my property, all oak. Glad they’re gone, the pollen, the caterpillars, and the leaves in the fall- good riddance! Still, the pollen finds it’s way onto my cars and property and up my nose. Ugh!

Jesus...18 trees!!. How much did that cost?

Up here before you can remove a tree you have to have a permit. If it is approved you have to pay the city 40.00-110.00 per tree (allows them (so they say) to plant other trees), have your neighbors sign off on your tree removal plans, etc. Might as well have them require a letter from the Pope while they are at it.

Here in NY, tree removal is quite expensive as well, especially for large trees. These were large oak trees, some 3ft wide and all over 40ft tall! Some companies charge as much as $1500 per tree! In the Hamptons NY, if the tree is close to the street, one needs permission before cutting it down. Needless to say, it cost me a pretty penny. But, it drastically raised the value of this property. I have some other properties on eastern Long Island as well, so I was able to get a little discount due to volume, I actually took down 29 trees!

I’m glad I don’t need my neighbors permission to spend all that money improving the property! Do you have to pay your neighbors off to get permission? I could see how a neighbor might say,”we’ll, if you grease my palm, you can cut away.”

Its about $1500.00 a tree up here too. In the PN West from Oregon to the Canadian border tress figure prominently in city permitting and planning departments. In some cases before you can get an approval, depending on the location of where the trees to be removed are, you have to pay the city to plant two more trees in the location of their choice. This is in addition to the tree permit fee of up to $150.00 for the permit. Its crazy. So, its real important to keep the trees on your property in good health and cut back, etc.

Actually, neighbors are usually pretty good about signing off, They figure they may need my signature one day.

Good talking to you, Paul, see you at the mall sometime.
