BMW Remote App

I tried to update my BMW Remote app on my iPhone tonight. I got a message saying that a new version had to be downloaded. When I get redirected to the download page there's nothing there. Any ideas?

Haven't used the app yet, although it is on my iPhone. How is it, worth messing with?

The older versions let you unlock/lock the car. From what I've heard that has been disabled.

You can use it to find your car with GPS, sound the horn and flash the lights. Also email an address to your car from google.

The app is pretty much terrible. It's got a long way to go before I'll use it again.

I had the same experience. I had to delete the app from my phone and then re-install. It's working now. Try again.

There's a BMW Remote US version which I guess we need. I locked myself out and have to wait for it to unlock

If you forget your info push the SOS button next to the sunroof switch and someone can help you out. Don't be afraid to use the button...

I thought that button was the self destruct button :-)

No seriously, I can't see why I'd pay another 100 euro's to get remote services which basicly is remote flash, horn and lock/unlock. Useless features and nothing more than a gimmick, the only usefull feature is remote activation of ventilation on hot summer days.

Basically the update causes the remote app on next launch to detect you are US and redirects you to the App store to download the new "US" version of the Remote App.

Yep, if you're in the US - you need to delete the current version you're using and get the "My BMW Remote US" version

Emailing the address to your car is a great feature.

So what's different on the new version besides eliminating the ability to unlock? The old version is fine for finding your car when you're within a mile or so, and flashing the lights could be quite helpful in certain situations.

Edit: I hadn't used the App in a week or so, and now I see we're forced to upgrade. As long as I can email maps I'm happy.

I cant find this APP.

Is it location based ? Only for USA or something ?

Thanks for posting! I believe unlock/lock was not available in the previous version.

Thanks to all for the help. I finally got it working. Just took a few attempts. I really use it quite frequently entering directions to my navigation system.

I downloaded the new version and only used it twice. I got BMW Assist for 4 years for free, so why not use it? The app is useful for sending addresses to the car without having to type it in on iDrive. Also, mine has the "unlock" feature but it directs me to calling BMW to have it unlocked.

Same here. I've linked one of my panel buttons directly to messages and all I have to do when I get into the car is press it and I see the addresses sent from the app.

Hi,

If you try to get My BMW Remote from Google Play, there is a black banner on the top of the listing that says it is not available in US.

Well, I got a copy of version 1.6 and have it on my Samsung S4; while it is a little slow (takes a minute or two), it works.

I noticed that there is a version 1.8 now on Google Play, but it still has the black banner saying it is not available in US.

What does v1.8 do over v1.6 -- wondering if you can use to remotely activate the heat or AC?

Can anyone help?
