Car and Driver 2013 10Best List Includes BMW 3 Series for 22nd Straight Year
BIMMERPOST NEWS Car and Driver 2013 10Best List Includes BMW 3 Series for 22nd Straight Year Car and Driver has released its 2013 10Best Cars list and making its 22nd straight appearance is the 2013 BMW 3 Series Sedan (F30). Here is what Car and Driver has to say about the newest 3 Series. BMW 3 SERIES SEDAN The same old song and dance, differently. Regular readers of this publication may have felt inklings or heard the notion that we have a certain fondness for the 3-series, as we've lofted it to this list now for 22 years in a row. This being a transition year for the model, the F30 sedan stands alone as the winner, without support from the rest of the lineup. Recent comparison and road tests suggest that we haven't gone ga-ga for the F30 as we did its predecessors, but it nevertheless delivers one of the best overall packages on the market. Two turbocharged engines offer improved fuel economy while the inline-six in the 335i maintains nearly undetectable NVH levels. The body and interior may have grown slightly, but that imposes little or no weight penalty. Front seats are comfortable and supportive, and the back seat is adult friendly. There's virtually no performance gap between the six-speed manual and the eight-speed automatic. With five equipment lines to choose from (base, Modern, Luxury, Sport, and M Sport), the 3's appeal has expanded to reach a larger audience without breaking its grip on the sports-sedan segment. Many would-be challengers have benchmarked this winning formula, and some even match or beat it in one way or another, but they all fall short of the gestalt. The F30 is just getting started, too—a hotly anticipated M3 version slides into view next year. FULL 10BEST LIST: |

Odd that the rest of the line-up didn't make the cut: E92 and M3 since they generally do. Likely because they're soon to be replaced. Nonetheless..good for the F30.
Also glad to see the Toyobaru twins make the cut this year. All the other cars are no surprise. |

I must admit that I am quite amazed about the fact that the 5 series didn't made it to the top 10. Ok, maybe the 528i is not the best option for testing but a 530d would give the Audi A6 a ride for his money...
Nonetheless great job by the 3 series. I truly hope it will remain the benchmark in its class. Looking forward to seeing the 335d and the new M3 |

Surprising that the ATS didn't make the list despite beating BMW at what they do best...interesting.

Well, it should be there, and it would be real news if it was not.

Look at what the Mustang offers for its price. Its a car that can and will keep up with the e92 m3 which is the bench mark of sport coupes, all that for the price of a 328. |

But I agree with you on Hyundai. I had a Sonata rental car today and, for what they charge for those they really are fantastic.

Go drive a 5.0 with 6 speed and come back then you will understand. Youre basically getting M3 perforamce for 32K. Way different cars I know. There was an article written in one of the car mags with the 5.0 and M3 comparison and it was actually a very good read. If I was buying a new car right now it would actually be a 5.0 with 6 speed. I dont have the money I used to with this economy and the Stang really is a great car now especially when equipped with the track pack which includes Brembo Brakes, Different Gearing and Suspension as well among other things. You can even get recaro seats in the car. Go do some research and you will be surprised Im sure.

I agree with the list but would take the Honda Fit out for the Kia Optima or the Vette.

I don't think so... The Fit is a very good car and I have one. Very practical little car. Actually the best of the small cars available in the US at the moment.
