And again - Another BASE Stereo Thread

HI, I am looking for some advice that is probably so easy to answer I will feel foolish one someone points out my dumbness.

I have the F31 with a BASE System and have purchased the Technic PNP loom set, and will be pairing it up with the JVC KS-DR1004D 4 channel amp

My issue is how the Technic loom kit hangs together.

I'll start with the under seat wiring to the sub. 4 wire female plug coming from the head unit that feeds into the mail socket on the underfloor sub. Am I right in assuming that the door spears are then feed from the 2 outer wires of this connector?

Part 2 - the Technics Loom

In my head this was easy when I purchased this...the concept was easy. You take the output from the HU, take it to the amp....amplify it and bring a new cable back to the sub/fronts.

As per the image

2 Wire - Part A - this is amplified signal from the amp back to the sub and uses the canter wires

4 Wire - Part B - Does this feed from HU loom back to the amp using the 2 center wires as the source and the outer wires will then be feed from the amp to feed the doors on the same loom

2 Wire - Pact C - I have no idea what this could be for

2 Wire - Part D - I can only assume this is for a tweeter in the door for a component, otherwise I have no idea what it could be for also.

Any help would be appreciated guys

Thanks in advance

They are, and they shouldn't be. The underseat woofers and door speakers should be separately amplified, with an electronic crossover keeping the lows in the woofers and the mids and highs in the rest. I believe your amp has that capability, assuming you have the JVC KS-DR1004D. I can't find a JVC KS-DE1004D.

Yes, it is the JVC KS-DR1004D - my bad

So my assumptions on how the loom works is correct - yes the doors will be fed from the amp speratly. 1 CH/ Left Floor, 1 CH Left Door - 1 CH Right Floor, and 1 CH Right Door

What Part C and D do I have no idea

A, one channel from you amp to your woofer
B one channels from amp to your door speaker and connect to blue woofer connector.

And repeat on other side of car

D , Use this if you put aftermarket speakers into doors as it clips into the door speaker plug.

C is used if you put an after market woofer under your seats

On the jvc set the low pass filter A for 150 and HPF for B also at 150 so you send bass frequencies to the underset woofer and mids and highs to the door speaker.

With bass audio the woofers and front door speakers are wired in parallel. The cabling to the front door speakers is daisy chained off the 6.5 underset woofer connector.

So A is the single pair and this goes from the cable you take out of woofer (leads to head unit) and take that to the amp input?

Correct.

The woofer only needs a two pins to work.

I know that's how they're factory wired. My point is that when using an amp they shouldn't be.

You may also need a speaker to rca converter for the JVC. Looks like the JVC had a maximum input of 5 volts. If the bmw head unit is 15 watts then it will and speakers are 4 ohm then it will send over 7 volts . If the speakers are 2 ohms then the head unt will send just over 5 volts so you’ll be ok.

So either be careful with the volume or get something like a high level to rca converter per channel.
