2013 3 series with CIC_High, no PDC

TRSVC # 66 53 9 393 953
Camera # 66 53 9 240 351
REM # 61 35 9 374 507

I mounted backup camera, full REM (F4A) and trsvc.

I routed the wires correctly, triple checked.
12v , gnd, KcanH, KcanL.
I have CIC so I ran the wires from TRSVC to HU as follows,
(TRSVC)Pin 2 to (HU)pin 18
(TRSVC)Pin 3 to (HU)pin 28
(TRSVC)Pin 4 to (HU)pin 27

I added 3AG to vo, then vo coded trsvc, rem, and hu_cic with esys

Cleared faults, started car, put it in reverse, and nothing.

No video, no warnings, no codes.
i also changed the pin positions to that of NBT at the quadlock and i got an error "reversing camera malfunction"
the code in ista said like no camera output - open circuit. so i believe the REM and TRSVC is working.
maybe i got a bad backup camera from ebay.?

Anything else I need to do? Scratchin my head here.

Update:

I used another scanner I had, and verified VO , and coded everything again

Now I have code CA9428 no message (function PDC, 0x377) receiver TRSVC, transmitter PMA

Probably because I don’t have PDC

That would make sense. I can't find any hard proof of it but I was always under the impression that to have reversing camera you needed at least rear PDC fitted and that the only workaround is to get an MMI box for it. Retrofitting rear PDC doesn't look like it's such a painful job to do if you did decide to go that route.

That’s what I’ve read as well.

It looks like it can be done without PDC.
Maybe try disabling the PDC manually.
Compare both cafd before and after retrofit and see the changes.

The image on that thread does seem to show an error icon towards the rear of the car image. I wonder if that person also added 507 to VO (for rear PDC) and coded REM and HU with it even without the sensors being installed. Or if it isn't an error icon I don't know what it is because I've never seen it before.

I assume the car will throw up parking distance control error messages though. Unfortunately that thread doesn't mention whether or not this is working with no errors.

changed REM from F4A to F4C, i added 507 and recoded, now i cant tell if backup cam is working, because theres a false positive "trunk open" warning. the trunk is definitely closed and warning was not present before 507 option coding.

and i dont think backup cam will turn on when trunk is open.. or can it?

update: the F4C from ebay had an internal fault for trunk open.
installed F4A back and recoded; no trunk open warning.
but still no backup camera with 507 added.

tried different REM; F4A and F4C, and a different backup camera. still doesnt work.

starting to think dude in the other post maybe low key sells these retrofit harnesses, lol.
