Question on newer f30's i own e90

Today i went to check out a 2013 328i xdrive with 98k miles on it one owner, on start up i hear a rattle more a cold start up tbh. Did some reasearch said it was to be wastegate rattle. Fair. But my issue was the timing chain in it, even if warm i noticed i could move it side to side and somewhat up and down but not a huge amount. Is this considered to be normal or should i stay away from this car? Also on narrow pathways where you can hear echo from your car I hear rattle when I get going faster.

The timing chain on a '13 is a crap shoot. I'd have a good BMW tech look at it to see if he thinks the slop is within normal tolerance. The rattle is probably normal, it's a very noisy engine.

Check for a whine on load. Have someone rev the engine up to 3k rpms and hold and if you hear a whine timing chain and guides probably won't last long. Also remove the oil cap and check the chain for smooth spots. Oh and stay away from X-Drive for maximum fun.

I'd want at least a 3 year drive train warranty.

Timing chain wasn't really "loose" it tightened up as i drove it. Just have to get used to the wastegate rattle
