Sold another GT today.
Not mine. A woman approached me in a parking lot, commenting on how beautiful the Midnight Blue color is, and how much she liked the look of the GT overall. She was driving a Volvo XC 70, and said she wanted something a bit smaller, better looking, better driving, but still with room for four and decent cargo space. I opened the hatch and she was halfway there. Then I opened the rear door and let her sit in the back seat. That sealed the deal. Her parting comment: "I'm sold. I don't mind being a soccer mom, but I don't want my car telling everyone that I am a soccer mom!"
I know that the GT isn't associated with being a babe magnet, but at my age I'm more in the market for MILF than babes, so maybe the GT is the right ride for me in a totally unforeseen way. |

Love that story! First off, I have the Midnight Blue and think it way cool and beautiful. You did what BMW doesn't do: let people see how useful and comfortable the GT really is! Carry on!

What I found most interesting was this was the first time I've ever been approached by a complete stranger who commented on how nice my car looks. I've had some sweet looking rides, and friends commented on those, but not strangers. I'm the first to admit that the GT isn't a 428 or 640 in the looks department, but it sure as hell isn't an Aztek or Crosstour either.

As for the actual 2, 3 and 4 series owners who look down their noses at the GT, I imagine that many 5, 6 and 7 series owners view their cars with the same level of disdain. |

BMW is not marketing the GT at all. IMHO they should require dealers to have a GT next to a 3er and have both of them have doors and trunk open! Add an X3 also and then see sales go!

Speaking of research, I did for 14 months between when I decided that I wanted to get a new car and when I got my GT. Early contenders were the 428GC and Lexus RC, but that wasn't serious, neither had the utility I wanted. The MB GLA 250 and Lexus NX200 had the utility, but fell short in other areas. Of all things the '15 Nissan Murano was my second choice. It gives you for $40k what BMW does for $50k. I probably would have gone for it were it not so tall, with those 30" diameter truck tires and 6" tire reveal. All I could think of when looking at it was that the first thing I wanted to do was to drop it four inches. That's what eventually made me go for the GT, because IMO if the first thing you want to do with a new car is to make a major structural change to it then it's probably not the right car to begin with. Even after driving the GT for two months there's little about it that I'll change, and that's all little things, like wheel locks, protection film and tinting. The only thing I found that I really didn't like was the rear seats, they aren't comfortable, but a couple of $29.95 lumbar supports took care of that.

I just closed the deal on one too. I'm in FL and was wiping it down when a couple from Arkansas came over. He told me he was looking to get a BMW for his wife and asked if they could look at it. What followed was a bunch of ohhs and ahhs and then to seal the deal, I opened the hatch. "Wow, you don't expect all that space in there!" and "Honey, I want one of those!" Done. She'll be getting a GT in the near future.

I think it might be to late! Picked mine up today (Pics to follow) and a lady was getting angry with the CA because he wouldn't sell her my car, haha! She wanted that car, and she wanted it NOW! My CA said that when one comes in off lease it lasts about a day, and he has 15 on order. Several people couldn't take their eyes off at the dealership, and another old fart like me was looking at it while in his SUV. Gave me big thumbs up when I got in.
