When I thought I was going to buy him a car, I considered the Lexus IS along with the BMW X1 and a couple 2 and 3 Series models. The IS seemed like a slightly better value than the BMW sedans, but I was leaning toward the X1 all the same. I don't really know what the competing alternatives are to the X1. All the best. P.S. I damn near had a coronary when my son said, "Nah, don't bother," but I didn't argue with him. That was the first time any child of mine actually didn't want me to spend big money for their convenience.  Who knows...I may let my youngest live under my roof a little longer than the other two. LOL
