The only coating on it would be one you added. I use Aquapel.

Griot's Garage has a number of glass products - a glass clay (any fine clay will probably do the same job), fine glass polish, and glass sealant. Adam's also has a glass sealant that is impressive (compared to Rain-X, which I've used for decades). My one experience with Aquapel didn't blow me away - no better than Rain-X & didn't last as long as touted.

i have a bottle of cerium oxide glass polish and griot's glass polishing pads...have both a dewalt rotary and flex orbital. just wanted to make sure there was no special outer coating from the factory that i should be aware of before doing anything

CarPro ceri glass is great with some reylon pads. If you use a buffer go easy as you don?t want to overheat the glass. As for hydrophobic coatings there are so many to choose from. I had Gtechniq on mine. When the windscreen was replaced I used a coat of collinite 476 wax and it worked a treat for a few momths.

Wish there was a way to remove all those tiny specs of road damage from the windshield. Quite a lot over the years.
