The only question remains - white or blue?
The matte blue-ish purple colour that's on the B7

The M5 comes in manual with 500 ft of torque, right, so have to imagine 518 wouldn't put it over the edge.

Wish someone would make an AWD diesel monster that comes in manual so I can get around in winter, floor it in summer, get good mileage year round, and satisfy my love of manual transmission. If anyone knows of such car, please let me know.

Aren't you guys getting the F30 335d xDrive? It's not that far off the Alpine's numbers at all. 313bhp and 4.8 secs to 62. The petrol Alpina is way above the 335i but this isn't all that much extra performance over the normal BMW 335d.
We get a shit 320d dressed and called a 328d for more BMW profit.

When I ordered my car I wanted it with San Marino Blue color but they say itīs impossible because itīs M car color. Itīs not available and Tanzanite was too dark for me.

If (and I only mean if) Alpina had the same distribution network as BMW in the UK, do you think this would outsell the M3? It's very fast, has all the options you could want (short of manual) and is diesel which is always a huge hit here.

I was told that it is possible through the Individual Program, but the cost is really high - 6 000 EUR.

I think you are referring to the B3, not the D3.
Ouch you are correct. I stand corrected

I do not think so, in the UK the availability of a buying an Alpina is quite easy just need to find a Sytner dealer. They have a good coverage of the UK, such as: Birmingham, Canary Wharf, Cardiff, Chigwell, Coventry, Harold Wood, High Wycombe, Leicester, Maidenhead, Newport, Nottingham, Oldbury, Sheffield, Solihull, Sunningdale, and Sutton Coldfield.

It's more about price, and lack of competitor dealerships eager to get your order, there is no discount and only two year warranty with a new Alpina's

Also alpina's are built to order, unless Sytner order/commit to a large quantity as they did with the previous D3's which were by default low spec'd.

I also think its the lack of brand awareness keeping exclusivity maintains a high margin of profit.

Love wagons personally.

But instead, they decided to send us the 3 GT (with n55) and I have a feeling it will flop because it just isn't a pretty as the wagon. It looks like a BMW version of a Dodge Journey which is just a Dodge Caravan in disguise as a wannabe SUV for families that don't like the idea of owning a "minivan" and think they are buying an SUV.

Serious Question.

How do they get those HP and mileage numbers?

Actually, I saw the F31 D3 yesterday in Frankfurt at the auto show (see below) in blue and definitely wonīt choose the blue color. In real life it looks so cheap and uninteresting. On the other hand, I saw it in white and it looks perfect and luxurios - http://www.alpina-automobiles.com/fi...BITURBO_08.jpg

The 0-62 is no longer a good benchmark to compare cars of this magnitude since you're flirting with the grip limit of your tires during the entire excercise. In all other driving conditions than stand still, the torque of the D3 is massively superior and casts the D3 far ahead the 335i immediately.

The 335i doesn't stand a chance, the M will have a serious job to keep up with it but will be able to rev it out above 6000 rpm. Still the D3 will keep its crown for master of efficient & cool performance. The 335i will only be able to hang on when it is in "stressed" high rpm mode, while the D3 still drives relaxed and composed a couple of thousand RPM's lower, also emitting only half of the COē doing this.

What a masterpiece it is, and not really expensive apparently... seems a better deal than the 335xd! When you put the extra kit on the 335xd that's included in the D3, you exceed the price of the D3! The engine tune is apparently thrown in for free!
