410 HP is very impressive. I wonder if the specs are accurate.

0-100kmh (0-62 mph) takes 4.2 seconds.
More specs are already available, in fact. See the press teaser attached in German as well as the full price list attached as well.

Here's a summary of the press teaser:
  • 410hp / 301kW are available between 5500 and 6250 rpm
  • 600Nm torque are available between 3000 and 4000 rpm
  • 0-100 km/h in 4,2 seconds (4,0 seconds with xDrive)
  • vMax is 305 km/h (189,5 mph) for the F30, F31 302 km/h
  • 0-200 km/h in 14 seconds
  • fuel consumption is 7,6 l / 100 km (31 mpg) (7,9 l with xDrive)
  • start / stop technology and full variable valvetronic
  • emission norm EU6 will be reached, 177 g/km of CO2 emitted (xDrive: 183 g/km), efficiency class D
  • xDrive will be available immedately for F30 and F31 (sedan + touring)
  • available as sedan and touring
  • prices have also been released: 65.000 EUR (VAT included) for the F30 with rear wheel drive
  • full prices see price list attached

It would seem that the engine is an updated version of the N54 with two turbos and the valvetronic system that has been introduced in several petrol engines lately (N55, N63Tü) which in particular explains the better fuel efficiency.

I would wager that the engine for the new M3 will look somewhat similar to this.

My understanding is mechanically its the N55 w/ two turbos.

For the E9x, Alpina offered this as an option. The current price list however bears no mention of it. I would therefor assume that it will not be offered, at least not straight away (in the past if was often offered at a later point in time as an option).

Looks like this, although in my book that would then not be an N55. But that is semantics.

Would be really interesting to see the exact technical details, in particular as to the turbochargers (which will probably be different from both the N55 and the N54).

Thumbs up

As a Touring F31 this is a great alternative to a not existing M car. It's clear to me, bye bye M and welcome Alpina. I'll order the touring as soon as possible.

I'am totally baffled by this car! How is this all possible?

WOW, really and deeply impressed. This car is from outer space... no other explanation possible.

Never before earth has seen such opposites combined in one car.

Why pay extra for Alpina when you can get the real deal - M3 for the same or very close amount of money?

I wonder if it would ever be possible to order one of these for the US? Seeing as you can order just about anything from BMW, I wonder what the sticker price for that sucker is....

Simply beautiful.

Might be some annoying stuff with North American spec safety requirements. I notice that Eurospec 3 series is almost 150lbs lighter than the equivalent NA version. Seems like Germans are often apprehensive to bring over cars unless they can make a serious case for sales margins. Especially if you're a fan of the hot hatch or wagons.
