This was my take too. I don't mind a smaller screen but it's a smaller screen inside a big frame which looks bad. I think the $2500 navi pkg is not a good use of funds. I would rather spend those dollars on something I want more.

I am not hating. If you like the design and like how it looks sitting on top if the dash then that is fine, but how about glare from the sun. You do not think this will be an issue? Like I alluded to in my other post, if there was technology out there that would make screens visible in direct sunlight the cell phone companies would have been all over it by now. I just think in some cases when the sun is in the way the screen is not going to be visisble. I think they could have designed it better.

Glare is not an issue in the slightest. I just came back from driving both a 328 and 335 and it was very sunny and shining into the car.

The F30 interior is so much nicer than the E90 IMO.

Garage List
This could be one of the nicest screens I've even seen in a car. The material looks and feels like apple IPad. I was concerned about glare, but there wasn't even a slight hint of it even with the sunroof open. Yes I wish it was integrated into the dash, but it's current position allows you to still see the road in the background.

What would Steve Job say about this?

"I like it, because it looks like an iPad. BMW is Apple-ized. Good taste!"

Told you so, You all were over-worried...

Thanks for Confirming Zirenz2006

Having taken that design (ipad style stuck on the dash) , BMW was not going to let those "glaring" details get in the way ...

If you include the new 6 series (F12&13) amongst "All newer BMWs", all I can say is that, for all the the fancy description, it doesn't work.
I found the screen suffered from glare in both the above models, whereas my F10, with it's cowled dash placement, is perfect.
I've yet to drive the F30 and if, when I do so, I find there's no glare, I'll stand corrected. However, glare or not, I still think it looks like a stick-on afterthought.
