Interior ambient light!

Is this a standard feature or does this varies upon options?

Back home M-Sport with Advantage Edition seems to be the most common. But as I see, some have this interior light with led strips on door panels and lights on B-post marks. Just wanna know if this is a positive feature that I can have in my car upon arrival or be disappointed?

It is very dependent on market. It is standard in the U.S. From what I've seen it is not in most, if not all, European markets.

It does not produce a very dramatic lighting effect and you're pretty unlikely to miss having it if the car you buy lacks it.

My F31 M-Sport has it and it looks very cool. The effect brightness and colour can be changed in the setting on the drive. Mine highlights the front and rear door panels and puts spots of light around the dash and onto the gear leaver. Its not very bright and has to be pretty dark to appreciate it but with black leather interior and set to white sport light (classic is red/orange) it looks very classy.

All F34 cars in Russia have light package. And red light in doors looks really very very nice in the evening

I was under the impression that Sport/M-sport have it as standard.

The only versions that do not is the SE/ES versions

Please post pics of it

I was of that understanding that all cars produced for Europe have the same standard features in many cases.
But the one I tried out had only rolled 4900km, and those guys at that dealer ain`t that kind that play with things.
But I meant it would be turned on already as a factory setting.

I have a EU Sport line. It has lights in the outside doorhandles, the plastic strip inside doors, were the ashtray is if you have one, around the reading lights front and back. You can choose between white or orange for the interior lights.

Previously I had a Urban line 1-series, it also had the b-pillar upward facing LEDs which I don't have on the 3-series. Maybe that's for compensating not having sport seats on the other lines.

I can snap photos if you want.

Sorry for the dodgy pictures but the lighting really is to add ambiance rather than illuminate so its very hard to photograph without more exotic photo equipment.

Quick snaps to show the rather nice effect and in both colour ways. Both look great, the orange being the stronger effect of the two but IMO it feels a bit like being on battle stations in a sub for my taste.

I had no idea about this lighting when got the car and it was such an amazing surprise when I first drove in the dark on Christmas Day. Makes my E91 (which I adored) feel like relic in comparison.

Looks like a nice feature, mine have what they call light package. But I`m really hoping this isn`t exclusive for some countries and absent in some other.

Where they already on when you got the car or did you have to turn it on?

Only had the car a week and with Christmas in the middle not had lots of time to play but AFAIK all M-Sport with interior comfort pack get this plus reading lights, footwell, boot and glove box LED accent lighting. Probably more differences but without checking I'm not sure.

They are on when lights are on. If you have the lights in the 'auto' mode that means they are on when it's dark outside.

You will have them if you have:
563 LIGHTS PACKAGE

If you have the VIN of the car you can check if you have that code here: http://www.bmwarchive.org/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html

I think there is a misunderstanding, you can have also lights package in the sport line and M-Sport, but as far as I know, only the luxury and modern lines have the additonal lights in the middle panel above the outcome of the front seat belts.

Yepp, I would be surprised if you couldn't on your car.

It's in the menus, Settings -> Lights -> Choose between "Classic" or "Modern?".

I've still got a 2011 335 coupe so we only have the amber lighting. That looks like a great feature though. Can't wait to play around with it in the new car. I've always admired the white lighting in my brother's Audi over the amber in my BMW.

The amber is definitely stronger than the white. In mine white you can barely see. Amber is like DEFCON 9

I def prefer the amber as well. I love the way the white looks too, but I feel like it's kind of hard to distinguish from any other random light that might be coming in from outside.
