No lights on the B pillar also (Line-less model). Finally sat in the car in a totally dark garage, turned on the light switch and picked out more ambient lights I wasn't aware of - in the driver's and passengers footwells and on the mid-headliner light switch (the latter also standard in my E53). All of these probably mentioned in this LONG thread, haven't had the time to read all the way through, but an entertaining read, nonetheless.
Something that my E46 has that the E30 doesn't are the reading lights on the C pillar that can be turned on/off. Not sure if the E90's have these reading lights? Last edited by AndDown; 10-07-2012 at 10:17 PM.. |

I noticed two things tonight after getting my car back from the Auto Stop/Start reprogram at the dealer:
1) Turn signals flash twice in a series of 3 when using the "kick" feature to open the trunk with comfort access 2) The door handle LED lights all come on while reversing at night The first one was new after the programming, the latter may have been there all along but just notices it. Pretty cool...

Ok. I thought if you had the ambient lighting option, you would also get the B-Pillar lights too. Strange that BMW varies the configurations so much.

Maybe they don't do it because of the Anthracite Headliner? Too dark to see the light?

just change the names of the lighting to appeal for the buyer who thinks their line got some extras

I know this thread is long but did anyone mention the two hidden compartments in the truck yet? I saw them yesterday when I was digging around and they are perfect to hide all my cleaning supplies.

Please forgive me if this has been mentioned before, but my car is new to me and 594 posts is a lot to go through... But I recently noticed a behavior that I hadn't heard about or read about in the owners manual. When the power is completely switched off, the illumination of the lamp controls will stay lit for some amount of time. (Maybe under all conditions, but at least at night when it's dark enough to notice.) I assume that this is so you can easily find the lamp controls in the dark in order to turn them on if you need to. The next morning I noticed the illumination was extinguished, I assume in order to preserve battery charge.
Not anything cool that one can DO with the car, but a nice little, helpful feature. |

The ones under the lift-up floor bit? Yeah, handy storage. I have the owners manual there. Did you notice that you can lift up that flippy bit far enough such that it'll latch against the top of the trunk so you don't have to hold it up?

Must be talking about the individual illumination of the seats on the side of the opened door |
