Run-flats durability & longeivity
I have never had run flats before. Judging from previous posts longevity is around 15k-20k miles. They seem to hold up ok, again just from reading. If I were to switch to regular tires after the RF's wear out, would it be a fairly simple process? Do I have to change pressure sensors for the regular tires? I would appreciate the feedback. Thanks in advance.

RFT tire wear will vary by your driving style as well as road surface condition. i.e. in Florida, some of our roads have ground up coral, shells, etc. in the asphalt and this can be hard on tires.
If you change to non RFT tires, no need to worry about pressure sensors, etc. All will work OK. Just consider a patch/inflation kit in case you get a flat. If I was to worry about anything its to find a tire shop that has a leverless tire changer such as the Hunter Auto34. http://www.hunter.com/tirechanger/auto34/index.cfm. This helps to insure your rims don't get chewed up when changing tires. |

Swapping out the new tires & wheels and trying to sell them on Ebay seems like a PITA which is why I wouldn't do it immediately. What are others doing?? |

most of the issues with runflats have been ironed out in the current generation of tires, with ride harshness being the top of the issue list.
impact damage (pothole induced sidewall ruptures aka bubbles) should be lessened now that bmw has increased tire diameter from 25 to 26-- an F30 running on 18s has the sidewall height of an E90 running on 17s.

the new run flats are actually pretty great - I'm driving the AS version of them, and the ride is smooth, corners well for an AS, and honestly, I'd consider re-purchasing them again if I upsize my wheel package into a staggered configuration (225/45 front and 255/40 in the rear, in 18's).
