Let me introduce myself! Rudy@Tirerack.com

Hey Guys,

I have been with the Tire Rack for over 13 years. I am a car enthusiast who has attended several different driving schools like Bonduraunt, Miller Motorsports park, Mid-Ohio advanced motorsports class, Skip Barber as well as a few others. I am an Auto Xer and do a HPDE every now and then. I have moderated many different forums which include Miata.net, IWSTI, Camaro 5&6, and a couple of other BMW forums.

I look forward to adding some value and feedback to some of the forum posts. I can also help with questions regarding any of our products. Going forward for orders placed online reference "RUDY/F30post" as your previous sales contact.

My contact phone is 1-800-428-8355 Extension 4664

Thanks for the info. I may need new rear tires for my 340 s drive with 19?s. It came with Pirelli p zero run flats and I have the tire insurance through BMW. What tires are considered one besides these for my car? I understand tire rack also has tire insurance how does that work if I have run flats?

Thanks for the welcome. Tire Recommendations are dependent on how you use the vehicle. Are you planning to stay with run flat tires? Are you an aggressive driver? What are the worse weather conditions you see normally?

The road hazard works the same way with runflat tires as it does with regular tires. Here is a link from our website.

Welcome Rudy. I have a 2014 335i Sport Line that came with a square 18x8" 225/45R17 wheel setup on Cinturato P7 RFT all seasons. I recently had the M Performance Suspension installed and I'm looking to see what I should do about tires.

Most of the miles on this car will probably just be canyon roads and spirited driving. The new suspension is also pretty stiff so I want to avoid RFT and tires with very stiff sidewalls. Ultimately though, the most important thing is I need more grip.

As I see it, the two options I'm thinking are either to buy some OEM BMW staggered wheels (18") with the stock staggered 225&255 sizes or just keep my current wheels and get 245/40-R18 tires. Do you have any recommendations as far as which strategy would be best and any recommendations on tires for either setup?

Thanks.

Optimally the staggered set up may be best however your square set up would save some money. I think we could work with either option. I would suggest going with Michelin Pilot Super Sports or Continental Extreme Contact Sport. Both of these have loads of grip and decent ride and noise comfort.

Front- 245/40/19
Rear- 275/35/19

Im currently using Hankook V12 summer tires but im looking for all seasons. I live in chicago if that makes a difference.

Sure you have 3 great options. BF Goodrich Gforce Comp2 AS, Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3+ and the Continental Extreme Contact DWS06.

Any one of these and you should be all set!

Hi Rudy !

I have a 4 years of use from factory supplied ContiSportContact 5 SSR, 29k miles on odometer now. I've research replacement tires and have narrowed to 2 choices, BS Potenza S-04 and/or Mich Pilot SS. I want to stay with my wheels which is style 397 18x8 squared.

I read somewhere in this forum about BMW odometer not showing correct speed and that a 235/40R18 would be best to compensate or give a much closer speed indication rather than a 225/45R18.

The 235/40 listed a diameter of 25.4, whereas the Conti's are 26".
I don't really want to go wide and stretch the tire to a 8" wheel so is the 235/40 a better option than the original size ?

Appreciate your kind suggestion. Thanks.

I think either size is fine overall the 225 will be slightly taller and give a better ride the 235/40 will be wider and a tad shorter so better grip and handling response. So It depends what you looking for in terms of ride and performance.

Hi Rudy, looking for a winter set up for an F31 with current staggering set up on summers... I live in Pennsylvania (near
Philly) so we do get a number of snow storms and a lot of below zero (C) days. I have the MSport brakes so need 18's. Looking for a reasonable wheel/ tire set up! Thanks!

No, first time I am asking. Probably same issue for someone else! Thanks.

Edit - went to the dealer and bought some there now.
