BMW F30 Ambient light?

Will the new F30 have the same kind of ambient lights as the F10 5 series?

By the look of the interior trim of the doors, it should have the same ambient light as the E92 coupe:

Why couldn't the F 30 have that dash from the five series with the integrated screen.

I quite agree - the new F12/13 6'er is the same and I think it looks like a bit of an add-on afterthought.
Another problem I found whilst test driving an F12 is that, due to the lack of the dash cowl, the screen suffers from glare and is far less easy to read than that in my F10.

I'm sure they will integrate the display back into the dashboard in the LCI update. MB did the same thing with their recent facelift of the C Class.

It did. You can adjust between classic (red/orange) and sport(white) in settings if you have the sport of M Sport package. You can also code them to be brighter than factory. They aren't that bright on black interiors. Red shows nicely in coral red interiors. White is brighter in dark interiors.

One can also swap out the LEDs in the light module to brighter ones (and different colors). Not a simple plug and play mod, but doable. I have the parts, just never got around to doing it.

If you meant embedding the screen into the dash, they haven't done this. And personally I wouldn't want them to. The way the screen is now is much easier to see and "find" with your eyes while driving.

What coding? I was under the impression that the default brightness was set to 64, which is 100%?

Hmm... sorry, I was slightly misinformed exactly how it works. Basically, it will allow you to run full brightness independent of your instrument cluster brightness.

Do you have a link or any details about the LEDs that could be swapped into the light modules?

Same here. A lot of people recommend coding to adjust brightness independently from the knob next to the headlight knob. However, that's not the issue.

The ambient lighting on a pre-face lift 430i that I've sat in is easily double the brightness. I really wish there was a way to increase the brightness on my 2014.

echo the above. It's there on my 2017 340, but pretty subtle. On two different family members 2014 X5's the lighting is massively brighter than mine (and mine is maxed out both places)

Way to resurrect a post from 6 years ago. The pics are from the e90 in 2011 with the OP referring to the F30 as a future vehicle!

Lmaooo I didn't even notice it was from 2011

Still, anyone know how to up the brightness on a 2014 f30 besides replacing the strip which is pretty difficult?

Answer is yes - the revised led module is significantly brighter. I installed them in my f32, and it made a big difference. The part number is 63319353133
