Has anyone with the 6.5" screen programmed anything yet? Wondering what additional features can be achieved? Thanks

SI B12 15 12 - BMW allowing dealers to re-program auto start/stop

Via: http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=729556

SI B12 15 12

INFORMATION
The Automatic Start/Stop (MSA) system is a further BMW Efficient Dynamics measure aimed at meeting BMW's commitment to reducing CO2 emissions and enhancing fuel economy.

BMW, always a leader in innovative technology, will be the first automobile manufacturer to bring MSA technology to all new models.

Automatic Start/Stop systems will become prevalent in the future, as manufacturers strive to meet increasingly stringent emissions and fuel economy requirements.

By automatically switching the engine off when the car is stationary, MSA can improve fuel economy and reduce emissions.

New F-vehicles now incorporate the second generation of MSA (MSA II), which has been further developed to operate in combination with an automatic transmission and the BN2020 electrical system.

A detailed description of the MSA Automatic Start/Stop function can be found in the ICP Technician library under Technical Training course ST1112.

SITUATION
Some drivers have expressed the desire to deactivate this function in certain situations. This can be done manually via the Automatic Start/Stop function button with the LED switched on, indicating that the start/stop function is deactivated.

However, by default, the Automatic Start/Stop function is reactivated each time the engine is started.

At the request of an owner, it is possible to modify this default logic to "Last user mode."

With this logic, the current MSA's activated or deactivated setting is stored and used on the next trip.

Note: All new BMW M models have the "Last user mode" as the default setting from production.

You can code the functionality described in this thread (ex: Disable the auto-start, remove the disclaimer, activate the ability to roll up your windows using the fob, change the delay on the trunk opening, etc.) - as described in the cheat sheet on the original post.

If you have the 6.5" screen, you will NOT be able to activate such functions as:

- BMW Apps
- Bluetooth Audio
- Office
- Nav

All these require the professional CIC module + combox. A retrofit is about 3000$ for the CIC module itself (this includes the bigger screen, new head unit, new iDrive controller, ability to use a white iPod cable instead of the Y cable, etc.), plus you'll have to activate the functions, which is usually another 500-1500$ depending on what you want.

I've confirmed this with Patryk@BimmerTech here on the forums and my dealership. I was hoping with my 6.5" screen I'd be able to simply order a combox for $300-500 and activate some functions (even simply bluetooth audio), but unfortunately this is not possible.

There are 2 screens.. 6.5" and I believe the 8.8 or 9" screen. If you have the 6" screen then you do not have what's called the "CIC" module and equipment required to retrofit the extra options.

In Canada at least, the "Premium Package" (what's called Premium up here) includes Nav, Comfort Access and a whack full of other things. I think in the US, you need what's called the "technology" package. I hate how BMW brands things differently, but from my understanding, this is what you need. Otherwise a complete retrofit is required and really not worth the money.

I leased mine and while I should have gone with my gut and just custom ordered it, I was able to grab a model that was on the lot for a very good price. I was "stuck" with the options it had, but the car is a beauty. I'll just make sure when my lease is up in 3 years to really go for the gusto and order the model I want with all the functionality.

Actually I ony want album art to display and I cant believe it doesnt on a car like this. Apparantly my CA says BMW Canada is aware of people wanting to add BMW apps after the fact and they're working on something... take that for what its worth. Interested to see the write up on this install... thanks
If you have professional nav then you don't need the expensive retrofit, just contact BimmerTech here on these forums and you can purchase the "BMW Apps" retrofit that will give you album art and stuff.

Yup I bought that same cable, and have already programmed my F30, for

1: Open/Close Windows and Sunroof with KeyFob,
2: Eliminated the Turn Signal lights when driving, but still flashes when turning.
3: Removed Disclaimer
4: Added Units to change in Sports mode to HP/Ft-Lbs
5: DVD-in-Motion (this really means all functionality that was previously disabled in motion, is now in motions, ie: User Manual, Programming your seat memory, etc.

I did a search but could not find a reference as to whether the 'Heat at Rest' function can be enabled with coding like it was for the E90. Here is the thread explaining the feature and coding procedure.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=497347

"Quick background: I have a 2011 LCI e92 (sept built) and every time I see a picture of a 2007-2010 dash I always regret not having the REST feature. I was simply jealous. California, Florida and Texas (to just name a few) fellow 3-series drivers doesn't care at all and love the introduction of the ALL feature to sync both sides temperature, but here in Canada I think REST (residual heat) is more useful.

Some months ago I came across a thread over here (link) about buying a cable and do some coding yourself. I don't want to explain all the steps here, all the required info is over there, its just a bit long to have an in depth look... Take your time to study it if you're interested.

I've made numerous read of all the available parameters that can be changed and came across one that pretty much shocked me! Its called "REST_TASTE_VERBAUT" some quick google translate revealed that its "REST Button Installed". Interesting ? Well I thought so and made a test to change it from "nicht_aktiv" (not active) to "aktiv" (active).

After all its only a button with a LED and some marking. Its nothing like a old school hardware toggle switch.

After the feature is coded to active, first try. I shut down the car. Start the car: the ALL button that was normally always lit is off. Okay... I press it: nothing -> wow, maybe it works. I took a quick ride, then return home. Shut down the car completely, press the ALL button -> it WORKS!

I exit the car, close the door, lock the car, light is still on and its heating... Come back 15min later, light is off, I open the car its very warm !

I knew it was possible to do something, after all, the 2011 cars still have an electric water pump and all the electronic is there. BMW engineers / marketing decided to react to complaints about the lack of an ALL sync button and decided to replace the function.

Some pictures of the car completely off with the ALL button lit, its heating trust me. And the best off all: in May i'll get the ALL function back for the summer."

I just coded my April 2012 build F30. I did all the mods EXCEPT those under FEM_BODY and REM as when I tried to read the coding data I received an error that it could not find the CAFD file. I checked in the psdzdata folders and I see that the required CAFD files are not in there. Does that mean I need a newer psdzdata file than v46.3? If so, where can I get the newest version?

Please and thank you.

I tried it on my 328 MSport and im getting same error. Looks like we have to wait for a newer version

Did you try the 46.6 files? They're out there, but people have had mixed results.
