That does sound interesting. My car is in transit to NZ and has NBT.

Are there any issues with coding a car with NBT and 48.1?

Hi Shawn, I'd be keen on 48.2 when available.

Thanks for your contributions on here - so very useful and informative!

It's no different than it is for a car with CIC and 48.1.

The issue isn't the head Unit or any other hardware, rather it always a matter of what ISTA/P version was last used to program the car versus what PSdZData you have for E-Sys. So long as your PSdZData version is equal to or higher than the ISTA/P version on the car, there are no issues.

You can have car with older hardware, but newer software, so a car with CIC and 48.2 on it will have problems using 48.1 PSdZData, whereas a car with NBT and 48.1 on it won't.

When I have it, I'll open up a new thread listing the CAFD changes, so all will know.

Cool, got it now. Do we know what PSdZData would have been used in a week 201252 car or is a bit or a lottery?

Is the version used on the car visible when I connect using E-Sys?

You will know they are incompatible when it can't read completely, missing CAFD files when you try to code, so no harm will be done (yet) since you can't even read, let alone code..

I think wht's happening here is, as basic BT function is built into the L7 Entry HU, if u have 6NH then there's no combox. If u have nav pro then, as it doesn't have built-in BT, if u have 6NH then it'll come with a combox with some features disabled.
For the combination of L7 Entry + 6NK/NL, the BT hardware is not present in the headunit as a combox is present, hence a different HU p/n is present.
This has never been clear to me, but is 606 Business Nav an option on the F30 in some markets, and if so, is Head Unit considered a CIC?
606 is business nav here in UK and I understand it has no combox.
I don't have 606 nav only 6nh Bluetooth.

I think based on the fact that 48.2 was released in November, and there is nothing newer that I am aware of, a December built car should have 48.2 on it:

ISTA/P 2.48.0 F010-12-11-501
ISTA/P 2.48.1 F010-12-11-502
ISTA/P 2.48.2 F010-12-11-503

When you get your car, you can read your I-Step (Integration Level), and you will see something like F010-12-11-503, which can be cross referenced to the ISTA/P version.

However, sometimes its not so easy to pinpoint the exact ISTA/P version, because the I-Step can be the same for multiple version of ISTA/P. As an example:

ISTA/P 2.47.5 F010-12-07-533
ISTA/P 2.47.6 F010-12-07-533
ISTA/P 2.47.7 F010-12-07-533

So your car has I-Step F010-12-07-533, but was it programmed with 47.5, 47.6, or 47.7? You can't know for sure without actually seeing the ISTA/P Measures Plan report.

I used F10 I-Steps here, but for all 6 listed, the F30 I-Step matched the F10, albeit beginning with F020 instead of F010.

Cool, thanks. I'm not due to receive my car until early Feb so I will see what it has then, in the meantime I will continue reading and learning on here.

Yes, and often the local dealer reprograms it, so it may leave the factory with one version and be delivered to you with another version.

You can see that too in E-Sys. It will show your Current, Last, and Factory Original I-Steps.

I wish I new brother.

I thought 606 Nav was always CIC-MID and that HU-CHAMP was used primarily in Mini's only, but it seems that is not the case.

It's the name of the mapping software (not the mapping data). "Motion" is for CHAMP & "Move" is for CIC-MID.

It looks like 606 for F25 is also using CHAMP2, maybe they're trying to streamline the platforms available.

I think the CHAMP2 headunit for 606 have basic BT already built-in (like the L7 Entry w/6NH), so for 6NH there's no need for a castrated combox to do the BT work.

Would coding of 606 be possible then with my HU?
Is the 606 HU the same as the 6NH HU?
Assuming I could get the update discs and FSC?

Also how do you add option codes?

Sorry for all the Qs.

Removed country controller (Hong Kong) from the VO. Office is now working, album art surprisingly activated on my non-nav. However, Chinese characters (songs or messages) no longer showing in the English interface. Went to settings, noticed my other default languages (Trad. and Simp. Chinese) are still there. Changed the menu language to Trad. Chinese and all songs and messages are displayed properly. Question is how can I see Chinese characters again if I use English as language?

lucky you! my car has to be left alone for half a day before the bluetooth option for Office & "Show Pictures" decided to show up.

Tried with both iPhone 4S and Blackberry Bold 9900, though i could view email & sms from both phone, these messages only comes from the primary phone (I typically use iPhone as the main phone & BB as additional phone).

Gut feels BB works better with Office, at the email address etc are laid out properly, whereas IOS always show unknown sender, with the sender name follows...

I don't know if it's normal, when we receive new message (text/email), there isn't any notification or gong or whatsoever, the message just sit in the message box, and have to manually trigger it to read.

And it only playback the message, does not support replies

While VO coding, I piggy back it with 6AL (BMW Live) and 6UH (Traffic Info). BMW Live works flawlessly, but the traffic doesn't seem so (when I check the FDL code, the option to make it work in Singapore was still not active - no biggy, just turn em on manually again)

U don't have 606 (bus nav), right? 606 HU is CHAMP2 whereas radio professional HU is L7 ENTRY, so they're physically 2 different headunits.
L7 ENTRY itself doesn't have any nav hardware built-in.

Yes, album art is there cos we have 6NK as std, just that the country controller disabled it.

See this post:

Quote:
I get album art after remove 8LH.

It will affect display of Asian song names, but the problem can be fixed by change the "Country" under HU_CICHB from "ECU" to "Hong Kong"

If you want Hong Kong Country Controller, add S8LHA to your FA, and VO Code your Head Unit.
