Here's a very simple and clearcut answer:
Go to realoem.com Select 335i RWD. Navigate to section 31 10. Observe the different choice of the strut depending on the presence of S704A. Go back to car selection. Select 335iX. Observe the lack of choice. Note that there's another diagram that describes the VDC setup, which is the same for both RWD and AWD versions. |

Well, this is a snip of the build info the CA sent me today and I don't see the sports suspension.
I tried the VIN lookup site earlier in yhis thread and it didn't work but I found one very similar but it costs $10. Will I get any more info that the attached? The killer is that in anticipation of my car arriving in early Jan (now late Jan) I sold my current vehicle a few weeks ago as they trade in value was well below what I was able to get...now if I have to reorder it will be a long time...and the CA still thinks I am getting the sports suspension. |

Thanks, that worked. Unfortunately, I don't see 704 Sports Suspension on my VIN number so I guess that resolves it. No sports suspension. Now I have to contact the CA at the dealer and figure out next steps. Appreciate everyone's help. I really wanted a good handling AWD BMW 3 series.

TommyGun280,
Unfortunately, you have the same dilemma that many buyers of 335i xDrive sedan are facing after ordering the vehicle. 704 Sport Suspension is deleted from the build if ZSL Sport Line has been selected on a 2013 335i xDrive. This is mentioned in the 2013 ordering guide but many CAs are not aware of this information. Adding ZDH Dynamic Handling Package at the VPC or at the dealer after the vehicle has been produced is not possible either. The mystery - what suspension capabilities you get as a customer by combination of .. - Removal of 704 Sport Suspension - Addition of anything specific to 335i xDrive My dealer promised to provide this information. Looking forward to learning. Last edited by cfm56d7b; 01-13-2013 at 02:28 PM.. |

I knew I wasn't getting sport suspension, hence ordering DHP with my build...car handles great, in snow and in dry conditions. Test drove a sport line RWD and I prefer the xdrive with DHP (even w the square 225 winters that are on right now).

I suppose the only option you have outside of re-ordering (and waiting again ) is to look into aftermarket suspension kits. I'm not sure if xdrive precludes this, but I imagine you could probably get a stiffer ride than the sport suspension and/or DHP. Maybe if you raise hell they might give a better price which you could in turn use towards the suspension?

On ZSL xDrive models that come with V-rated all-season tires (as opposed to Y-rated tires on RWD ZSL models), the limiter is 130mph. 130mph-limited cars DO NOT get 704.

If you order a RWD Sportline and choose the no cost option for all season tires (ZAS) instead of the standard performance summer tires (ZPT), the increased top speed limiter option (840) is deleted but it does not say anything about deleting the sport suspension (704).I had an interesting experience ordering my 335i xDrive. I had studied the Ordering Guide and decided I wanted the Performance Summer Tires option (ZPT) because with that you also get the increased top speed limiter (840). The dealer's ordering system would not let them do that the day I was there, which was a Saturday. Dealer said there was no BMWusa help available that day, but they did agree that it was a valid option according to the Ordering Guide. About a week later they got my order finalized to include both the ZPS and 840 options. Bruce

I still believe that ZSL xDrive cars do NOT get 704.

704 sport suspension comes with all sport and m sport lines UNLESS you have xDrive.
Tire selection affects the speed limiter selection. It has nothing to do with suspension selection. A RWD sport or m sport on all seasons still gets the 704 sport suspension. DHP is a standalone option that can be added to any line, xDrive or not, and replaces the existing suspension (whatever that is) with Adaptive M. |
